"𝐉ust so you know—I'm not here because of you," Nathalie spoke nonchalantly as she made her way through the Quarter, the All Hallows Eve party is still raging on in the streets, with Klaus next to her. "I'm helping only because of my own sense of self-preservation."

"I assumed so, love." The corners of Klaus' lips tugged up at her words as he motioned his head towards a familiar blonde human on the phone with a certain, missing teenage witch.

Nathalie and Klaus followed the blonde, out of the woman's sight as they intently listened to the background noises of the phone call. The heretic had her arms crossed over her chest, the hybrid standing on the sidewalks beside her as they both waited for the call to end.

"Davina. Davina?" Camille said when the call had been disconnected.

Nathalie knew exactly where the teenage witch had chosen to hide. She'd heard the cicadas and the terns. From her time spent with the runaway girl, she knew Davina's family owned a little cabin near a church. And the church bells from the background noises of the call were the only confirmation she needed.

Cami turned on her heel in time to see Klaus and Nathalie vanish from behind her, it all happening too quickly for the blonde to make out whether it was real or not.

"We don't wanna run."

"I know, and I respect that." Marcel raised his hands in the air slightly as he responded to Gia's words. "But believe me, there's a big difference between wanting to fight and knowing how to win."

The new vampire community had all gathered to discuss how to deal with the werewolves' ultimatum after the wolves had crashed their party under Lenore's, or Esther's order.

"So, show us," Gia spoke again and Kai found himself admiring the woman's courage for a moment. "You've kicked their ass before, I'm guessing you didn't do it alone."

Josh, sitting on the chairs near the bar, raised his hand as if to ask for permission to speak, causing an amused grin to spread across the Parker heretic's face. "Um, yeah, not that I don't dig the whole Karate Kid vibe that we got going on here, but—how are we supposed to learn to defend ourselves from an army of super wolves in, like, one day?"

Marcel put his hands on his hips as he turned around to meet the heretic's gaze. The look Kai gave him told him enough—he had no idea either. Especially with a certain hybrid and a heretic away from the city.

It was an underestimation to say the Parker heretic wasn't anywhere near happy once Nathalie told him she'd probably be off with the hybrid the whole day, tracking down and dealing with some missing teenage witch. He knew a whole lot better than to tell her that in his mind, it wasn't a particularly good idea—but he supposed they needed that day to themselves.
