Hope's Peak Academy. The school that takes in students all over the world that possess talent so they could shape not only Japan's future, but the world's. With hope as their main goal, the leading staff handpick freshman that'll eventually go on and fill the globe with hope, knowing they can rely on alumni of Hope's Peak.
So uh, why was I here?
I know I got into the school but, my talent isn't even a 'talent'. It's just a stupid curse I was born with. Well actually, I like to think of it as a curse so that I don't have to face how pathetic I am.
My name is [Name] [L.Name] and I am the Ultimate Loser.
???
Literally, why? Who decided 'Oh-oho! That loser right there! He's so sad, he might be able to inspire the nation! Let's invite him to our school!' It just didn't make sense. But, obviously, I wasn't going to decline their offer.
So now I'm officially the Ultimate Loser. And? Psh, as long as I wasn't going to get bullied or anything, how could I let up a school that's filled with different personalities from all over the world?
In all honesty, because of my tendency to lose at anything competitive, I've become interested in different cultures. My main goal is to find a nation that's culture isn't based off of sports or competitions so I can finally be at peace.
In Hope's Peak, I might just find what I've been looking for. Maybe I could get to know an Ultimate Adventurer, or an Ultimate Cartographer. You never know, y'know?
So, that's why I'm standing in front of Hope's Peak right now. Instead of being ashamed, I've decided to be proud to be chosen. Even if it was just because of my bad luck.
I mean, I'd have to be somewhat interesting to be chosen by the government, right? Right? So with my right foot, I took a step forward towards my future with an unsure-but-kinda-sure smile.
I was determined to enjoy my time at the academy. But...was determination always so...heavy? As if being manually shut off, my mind went blank and my vision dark.
The ground beneath me felt unstable and suddenly, a feeling of dread overtook me. Filled with confusion, my eyes that I never closed opened and I jumped back at the sight of a sliding door in front of me.
"Who the hell are you?!" The initial embarrassment of shouting for the identity of a door caught up to me and my tensed body relaxed hesitantly. It was an idiot move not to turn around just in case but for some reason I became calm the more I looked at whatever therapeutic door was in front of me.
Cautiously, I took slow steps toward it and without really thinking, gripped the handle and slid it open. I was pleased to see my curious gaze was met with many others. "Who may you be?" A girl with shoulder length silver braids asked, her red eyes narrowed.
Before answering, I looked around the room and figured it was just an average classroom filled with not-so-average students. I must've still been at Hope's Peak Academy, but was this the right room? "Is class already is session? Where's the teacher?"
Unfazed by my questions, a boy in a white suit with glasses that covered his glare repeated, "Who are you?" Not taking a liking to his tone, I gave him an annoyed grin and cheerfully replied, "The pizza delivery man! Obviously my outfit gives that away!"
I pointed at my invisible hat and frowned. "Can't you tell by the cap?" He rolled his eyes and let out a huff. "We asked you a question first. I am not sure why you are being so childish about this."
Before I could say anything else, I felt someone bump into my back, pushing me forward a bit. With that I also silently screamed. Quickly, I whipped around to see that there was a boy with brown spiky hair and a normal school uniform there that was confused as well.
"A-ah! Sorry about that..." "It's fine, dude. Did you just get here too?" The same braid girl from earlier switched her sight from me to him and asked, "Who goes there?" There was another girl who was on the other side of the room with a bow in her blonde hair, looking at the boy with concern. "You look quite pale, are you alright?"
"Um..." A student a few kids away from them with freckles on the bridge of her nose slowly spoke, "Hey...could it be...you two are also freshman at this school, right?"
I nodded and the boy still behind me seemed to be less confused. "Ah, then...you're all...?" "Ultimates. No wonder you guys look cool," I finished for him, admitting what I was thinking as well.
The boy with glasses that spoke with a mocking tone looked between the other teen and I. "...Hey, why don't you come in for now?" "Eh? Ah yes, of course." I moved forward first so the brown haired kid didn't have to maneuver around me.
Deciding to take a seat, I slipped into a chair near the front of the classroom that no one was occupying. For some reason, many of the Ultimates were standing but if this was going to be our first class, then they'd better hurry and sit before all the good seats are taken.
The boy from earlier that bumped into me walked towards the back of the classroom and sat down at a desk there. "Um, excuse me?" He muttered, catching the attention of a few students. However, Mr. No-Fun from earlier was the one who responded. "...What is it?"
"Why are we all gathered in this classroom? No one said anything about coming here, so...is there like, an entrance ceremony or homeroom that's happening now?"
Feeling curiosity poking at my side, I turned to look at the normal-looking student, asking, "What do you mean?" He opened his mouth to respond but the glasses dude in the white suit interrupted, "We were actually just about to discuss that matter."
"Discuss?" The other boy repeated in in confusion, egging him to go on. "Well...since you two are the last students to arrive, let's start the discussion." 'How convenient.' There was a girl behind me that perked up in interest.
With colorful streaks in her hair and her hand placed up to her eyebrows she marveled, "Eh? How do you know?" "If you looked around there are 16 desks an extra chair in the corner. I'm assuming there was a lack of desks and one of us would've had to sit at another person's desk."
A boy wearing a chef's hat with a red scarf tied like a tie casually asked, "Just what are we going to talk about? The reason we're all gathered here in this classroom?" The leading conversationalist dismissed his question and instead asked his own.
"First of off, let me ask you all something. Do any of you remember how you got here?"
