--Anna--
"Okay, but Jeremy McKinnon doesn't look like an ape." I said laughing at Tyler's stupid comment.
"Dude, yeah he does. He has so much hair on his head, he wouldn't even need a gorilla mask, maybe just the body suit." He chuckled.
We were walking towards our form room which me shared with Tyler's other friends.
He was really nice and friendly and said I would definitely get along with his friend group.
"Yeah whatever you say Tyler."
"You know I'm right though, Anna. Don't even deny it okay."
When he said that we'd reached what I presumed was our form room.
As Tyler neared a group of boys, who were deep in conversation about playing guitar, butterflies began to form in my stomach.
My knees were weak and I felt ill.
I slowly shuffled behind Tyler, my head looking down at the floor.
"Hey guys," he said, a bunch of 'oh hey's came in repsonse, "this is Anna, the new girl."
I felt my face instantly blush and I hadn't even spoken yet.
I glanced up at boys, my nerves obviously written all over my face.
"Hey Anna! I'm Ryan, do be nervous, we don't bite." He smiled at me.
I looked up at him properly and gave him a smile.
"Nice to meet you." I said, my voice shaking.
"Anna, this is Evan and he's Tony." Tyler says pointing at all the boys as he said their names.
I simply smiled at all of them and they continued their conversation but Tyler now joined it.
I liked listening to people talk about things like music and instruments.
I turned my back to the group of boys and looked around the hallway and saw a girl, who was dressed in a way that didn't look overly comfortable, and a rather cute boy fall out of the janitors closet and jog down the hallway in the opposite way to where I was standing.
"Nah man it's easier to play the A chord with your fingertips in a diagonal line." Tony said.
At that point I'd zoned back into their conversation or what possibly was a heated discussion.
"No, it's way easier the other way man." Ryan said, disagreeing with him.
I stepped forward so I was in the mini circle the lads had formed.
"Um, I agree with Ryan, if you play it the other way it's easier to change chords quicker... Well that's if we are talking about the same other way um yeah." I said, wanting to join the conversation.
The boys seemed pretty taken back at the fact that I had an opinion on how to play the A chord on guitar.
"Wait what? You play guitar?" Evan said, a huge grin spreading across his face.
I blushed and nodded slightly.
"Dude that's so cool, no girl here would dare even look at a guitar or even think about playing it." Ryan said, excited.
Then the bell rang.
I got called cool, this is definitely the best first day I've ever had.
We walked into the class and I sat next to Ryan at the back of the classroom.
"So, you play guitar and like Basement, you're seriously different to the other girls around here." He said, putting his backpack on the floor by the desk.
"In a good way or a bad way?"
"Well, for us pop punk boys it's a good thing." He said sarcastically while winking and putting his arm around the top of my chair.
I hit him the stomach and he instantly leant forward in a form of pain.
"I ain't no doll to be played with, and nobody would ever be interested in me." I said rolling up the sleeves of my flannel.
"Oh trust me, I'd beg to differ." Ryan said, as a teacher walked in.
By this point various girls had walked in dressed in crop tops and high waisted jeans or colourful dresses and skirts.
Luckily, no attention had been drawn to me just yet.
"Morning students. Where is the new girl?" The teacher said in a monotone voice.
I felt my stomach grow heavy as various confused whispers about a new girl flew around the room.
Ryan put his hand on thigh as reassurance and gave me a slight smile and mouthed it's okay.
"Um I'm here." I spoke up from the back of the room.
"Okay, come to the front and tell us all about yourself maybe?" the teacher who's name I didn't know suggested.
I replied with a quiet okay and walked to the front of the classroom, my heart pounding.
I looked around and my eyes landed on Tyler, he gave me a slight thumbs up and forced a smile to try and comfort me.
"Okay does anyone have any questions for...." the teacher began but couldn't carry on with lack of my name.
"Oh, Anna. I'm Anna."
"Yes, any questions for Anna, anyone?" she said looking at the pupils.
"Um, why are dressed like that?" A girl dressed in a low cut top and a short skirt asked me.
At first I was confused and then said, "i dress like this because it's how I want to dress. I don't need to look 'good' for anyone and if I'm happy with what I'm wearing and you're not well that's your problem, not mine." I said with some confidence.
The class looked amazed by what I'd said to this girl.
The girl just rolled her eyes and then Ryan asked question.
"Are you single?" he said quite seriously.
This caught the attention of a few boys in the room causing them to shift in their seats and look at me, anticipating my answer.
I laughed slightly and said "yes, yes I am."
The questions kept coming with things like what's your favourite colour and the generic stuff like that.
Then the bell rang and I strolled towards Ryan, who had my bag in hand for me.
I punched his arm and he pretended to be hurt.
"Why would you do that? It was so embarrassing dude." I said annoyed but happy.
"I was getting the ball rolling for you, some people are already interested, I think."
We left the room and started to stroll towards my english classroom.
"Whatever you say, Ryan."
