First day at Zoo

Chapter 3

Well I've officially been a student at QSU for 2 weeks and today's the day I finally start my work program at Australia zoo.

The zoo opens at 9am, but we have to be there an hour early and it's an hour drive so I have to leave the university around 7am.

Like I fool I was, I'm not set to get my rental car for another week, but thankfully Tanya has graciously offered me to borrow hers for the time being , she's not going to be using it this week, so as long as I paid for the gas I used I could borrow it, which I thought was fair, though I had to be careful to not get into any wrecks because I wasn't on her insurance, though really I would only need it 3 times a week, I'm only at the zoo 3 days a week, Thursday, Tuesday and Saturday.

It's 6:55 by the time I'm ready to go, I lock my door and go to Tanya's knocking quietly as to not wake anyone else who still might be sleeping .

A bleary eyed Tanya opens the door, hair in a bun and wearing one of Jackson's tops.

"Morning Dani."

Tanya has stated that I needed a nickname so Dani it was

"Morning Tanya."

She walked back into her room to get her car keys.

I look in to see Jackson laying in the bed, honestly I don't get why they still have 2 dorm rooms by this point I don't think I've seen Jackson actually sleep in his room.

Jackson nods at me from the bed.

"Morning Dani, good luck for today."

"Thanks."

Tanya comes back and hands me her keys.

"It's the black Audi A1 in the parking lot, just click the key to open the doors, and it takes diesel."

Apparently Tanya came from a wealthier family than me and her parent had gifted the car to her for a graduation present.

I grab the keys.

"Gotta day the whole khakis outfit really suits you."

I look down at my uniform I was sent by the zoo. Khaki button down with khaki knee length pants and beige walking boots.

Not stylish but practical.

I look at my phone 6:58, okay I really need to get on the road if I'm gonna make it on time.

I'm able to spot Tanya's car with out much trouble, and soon I'm off on the road.

Later

By the time I've arrived it's 8:02 quickly as possible I run to the entrance.

The entrance is empty due to the park not being open.

Just as I'm about to panic a voice behind me calls out.

"Are you alright my lovely."

I turn to the voice

walking up to me is non other than bindi Irwin.

"I'm Danielle Lawson I'm meant to be starting my work placement."

A spark of recognition is in her eyes.

"Oh of course I was just coming to find you, you need to be over at the animal hospital I'll take you."

We both hop on the golf cart and drive away from the zoo entrance through the empty car park to the zoo hospital.

While we were driving me and bindi struck up a conversation.
