𝑴𝒂𝒆 𝑶'𝑹𝒐𝒓𝒌𝒆.I rest peacefully on my stomach with my two arms underneath the pillow, I'm so comfortable until I feel a finger start to poke my cheek repeatedly, I groan turning my head needing my beauty sleep.
Then it started up again.
"Stop it" I whined then Delia's giggle filled the room.
"Come on, Mae it's time to get up you slept enough"
I groaned turning my body around and opening my eyes noticing it was two in the afternoon. Shit! After my night with Jake, we woke up together in the early morning and ate breakfast then he drove me back to Misty's place.
She's right, I sat up rubbing my eyes then grabbed my phone and saw two texts from Jake and Mom.
Mom wanted to know if I was alright and safe so I replied saying I was fine and at Misty's.
Then I opened Jake's,
I miss you already baby, we need to have another night together
I smile while biting my lip. He was right too - reminiscing about our night blushed my cheeks.
"Mae?!" Delia's voice ruined my daydreaming
"What?" I blinked spotting her holding up my necklace in front of me
"You forgot this yesterday" passing it to me
Oh yes! I did forget I was so excited about seeing Jake that I neglected to take it with me.
"Thanks" Putting it back on
"Of course now come on, Misty's mom is almost finished cooking the pancakes" Delia chirped still wearing her pajamas skipping from the bedroom. I chuckled discarding myself from the bed and needing the bathroom.
~~~~~~~
It's two days later and Mom decides to cook dinner as we sit at the table, and Dad never gotten back to me with a reply - I poke my fork at the meatballs listening to the awkward silence between us so I clear my throat
"So Mom, how's work?" Cutting the thick silence
She smiled "Very well, thank you, I did get offered this assignment that requires me to travel for a few days but I don't know, I haven't got confirmation yet"
My eyebrows raised "That's great Mom" This must be very important if she has to travel and it makes me feel excited to get the house to myself and have alone time with Jake.
"Mhmm and I expect you to be adult about this, Mae. I don't want you having parties or do I need your Aunt Brooke to babysit you?" She sternly told and I shook my head
"Mom, I promise you I will never do that and this allows me to look for jobs, and apply for colleges. I won't disappoint you" I said with a smile
It was the truth and I was looking forward to it - Mom replied with a smile grabbing ahold of my hand and squeezing it.
"I believe and trust you, Mae"
Mom stared at me with her credulous eyes and I'm relieved she does and I couldn't wait to prove how adult I can be if she does travel. The freedom and peace I'll have along with Jake, Misty, and Delia.
I'm excited and what could go wrong?
____________
I smiled widely like the happiest girl in the world, Jake and I spent the next day together as we talked, ate, and shopped. I hold Jake's arm as we walk through the mall ready to leave because the day is nearly over and I am sad, I didn't want our time to end yet.
