CHAPTER 03

"Only those who care about you can hear you when you are quiet."

PART 03

It's been a while, they were sitting and holding hands together, Selcan and Halime were contented sharing some quiet time. Halime didn't know what to say, she always thought that sometimes silence is a better option to console someone than to shower them with words of wisdom.

"Ahhh... "

Selcan got scared. She looked at her in an alarming gaze, "Halime, what happened? Everything alright? Are you okay? Should I call a doctor? Let me call someone." She flooded her with questions as she was uncertain why would Halime groan in pain.

"Sakin ol (calm down), I'm fine." Grabbing her hand to pull her down, Halime sheepishly smiled at her. "It was just a cramp in the leg but now it's gone, Alhumdulillah."

"Haye, Halime you got me scared for a moment. Here, drink some water." Pulling the pitcher, she poured Halime some water in the bowl.

She drank the cool water, grateful as it chilled her parched throat. She didn't realize how much she needed it.
Selcan rubbed her back soothingly.

Expecting a child is a blessing and start of a new beautiful phase in life. However, pregnancy is not an easy task to carry. It needs a lot of patience, strong will power, positivity. It's been over six months now; her belly has grown much. Three more months only and she will have the angel in her arms soon.

"Are you feeling better now, kardeş(sister)?"

"Yes, much better! Ey wallah."
Halime answered and goes silent.

Selcan stared at her for a while, Halime may be silent but things are running in her mind. With all the chaos in the tribe, she also feels lonely and vulnerable. She squeezed her hand a little.

"Don't worry Halime, everything is fine. You don't have to be tensed. I know you are on the edge because of me. I did lose my temper and caused a scene out there, but my intentions were not bad. I felt helpless Halime", tears rolled down her face. She wiped it with the back of her hand and continued, "Remember I told you about an old lady I saw with Aytolün and I went behind her?"

Halime nodded her head.

"That dead body was of her, Halime. I should have known, they wouldn't have let her live. She knew something and she was about to tell me but when I went to fetch more gold, she vanished. I was this close to get the truth. Aytolün is behind of this. I may not have the proof, but I know... I know. Trust me Halime." She sighed.

"I trust you, Selcan. Lakin (but) Everyone is upset with you Selcan. They were already having a hard time accepting your change now with this, they are puzzled whom to believe. I am not worried for anyone but for you. We don't have the proof in our hands, Selcan. We need something to prove your innocence... but how? That woman is dead. We could have made her talk. Who killed her? Why would someone kill an old lady? What harm could she bring to anyone? How are we going to prove that it was Aytolün who did this?"

Trying hard to think of something to get her sister out of this mess, not only her but if all this comes to what Selcan think is the truth then the whole tribe is in danger. And it's her duty too to protect and disclose the truth.

Looking at Halime, she realized instead of giving her assurance she made her more tensed.

" Halime, Listen. I would die before letting anyone to harm my family. There's always a silver lining to these bad situations. We must find that. No matter what happens I will find the truth, I will pull it out from the deepest hole it will be hiding in. I will bear their hatred, I will bear it. I will swallow this bitter pill with a smile on my face, if it means the safety of my family but I won't let her harm us." Her voice cracked, "I did wrong in the past and have suffered. ALLAH gave me a chance to repent and I will do my best. Don't over stress yourself in this condition. I am here."
Selcan assured her with a warm smile on her face.
