Hello again, ladies and gentlemen! Welcome Back! If you're still here, that means you can tolerate my exaggerated narrations, and my constant rambling. Excellent! You now know how to handle annoying, talkative people! Hooray for you. Anyhoo, let's get back to the story.
Now, to put this into context, It is Six's birthday today. After the events of the last chapter, Six wants to go celebrate her birthday by exploring. Seven reluctantly agreed to go with her, and here we are now. (I know this is kinda cheesy but stick with me here.)
There they were. Just two kids having a good time. Acting like they weren't on a floating deathtrap/monster resort. They laughed, they slid down make-shift slides, and enjoyed themselves. This was the most fun the ever had since...well, ever. And while they were walking to the next area, Six started talking. "So...I guess I'm 13 now." "Yeah. I guess you're basically grown up." For the record, Seven was going to be turning 13 soon. "No, I'm still just a kid. But...I am older than you. So I'm in charge now!" "What!? No way! Look, technically, I am 13, my birthday just hasn't come yet." Seven liked to bicker with her, but what he really wanted to talk about was the kiss on the cheek that Six gave him this morning. She was acting like nothing happened, but even though Seven couldn't see her eyes, every time he looked to where they would be, she would blush slightly. He wanted to ask her if...if they were...a thing...? He was so nervous about talking about it he couldn't even say it in his head. But before he could say or do anything stupid, he stopped. "Six, wait." "What? what is it?" Six looked to where he was staring and saw why they had stopped.
Guests.
They didn't seem to notice that Six and Seven were there, though Seven could've sworn that one of them looked at our heroes before continuing to shuffle forward. These Guests were different from the ones that they had seen. Well, actually, they were like ones they had seen before. It was just that these Guests were wearing Kabuki masks. They all wore black trench coats, black pants, black shoes, black button-downed shirts, heck black everything. Six was surprised that the buttons were even staying on. All of them were dressed the same way. Strange, considering how normal Guests basically all have different outfits. But these ones looked...organized.
When the Guests were near Six and Seven, they stopped. There was about five of them, all looking down at the kids grimly. All that could be heard was the heavy breathing of the Guests. Seven wanted to run. It was his name after all. The Runaway Kid. It was what he did best. But his legs wouldn't move. He wanted to scream, do something, anything, to get away from these monsters. He looked over to Six and she was keeping a poker face. But she was sweating bullets, as was he. The Guests stood there, staring, for what seemed like eternity. And then, they finally shuffled away. One of them looked back, and continued to shuffle.
Seven was shocked.
What the hell just happened!? They just...walked away? But no Guest can resist the urge to eat. Or at least, they don't try to resist it. Six looked over to Seven. "Uh..." "I was thinking the same thing." So they turned around and left. Not knowing what to do, they decided to go see the other kids. Yep. Believe It or not, there are other kids on this ship besides Six and Seven. Some of them are still in cages. Some of them are being "cared for" in the children's quarters. And some were like Six and Seven, wandering around the Maw and trying to survive and hopefully, escape this place. These kids were role-models to the children in captivity. "The ones that escaped" as they are called. All kids try. Not all of them succeed. However, the kids that Six and Seven were going to see, were at the children's quarters. Later, they are going to see the escapees.
As they were nearing the quarters, the heard a familiar sniffing sound.
It was the Janitor.
"Well, well, well..." the Janitor said. "What have we here?" Six and Seven slowly turned around to look at the beast. They were standing perfectly still, careful not to make any sudden movements to alert him. The Janitor waddled toward them. They held their breath, hoping that he wouldn't get a grip on them. And then...BAM! The Janitor grabbed Seven, and brought him closer to his mouth. "Hello...Runaway Kid..."
They all burst out laughing.
"Ooooh you almost scared me that time." "Don't lie, Seven, I smell fear." "Uh-huh, surrrrre." The Janitor gently placed Seven down, and started talking to them. "How've you been, Roger? Still rounding up the kids and sticking 'em in cages, I bet?" Roger grunted. "You know, I used to like my job before you kids ruined it for me." "We made you see the error in your ways. Don't feel bad." "Yeah, well I still have to do it regardless of whether I want to or not. The Lady would kill me if I were to try to rebel." Seven smirked. "What's that smile for, boy?" Seven casually looked to the side. "Oh nothing, I was just wondering how it's going with you and the Lady. Do you still...what was it that you said? 'Appreciate her style and grace' as much as you used to?" Roger started to blush. "Now you hush yourself! I don't like her! I just...think she's kinda pretty..." "Roger's got a girlfriend, Roger's got a girlfriend!" "I would watch my mouth if I were you...unless you want me to tell Six about the feelings you have for her." Six looked surprised, and blushed. She looked over at Seven, but he quickly looked away. "H-hey! Look at th-the time! We better get going other wise we won't be able to see the care kids!"(the care kids are the kids that are taken care of in the children's quarters) "Alrighty then, I'll come and let you in. But I still have to be in there with you. Don't want any of them kiddies escaping."
So Six, Seven, and Roger went to the quarters and into the rooms where the kids slept. They were all playing, when they saw Six and Seven come in. "YAAAAAAY!" they all screamed. When they saw Roger come in after, they weren't so happy. "Awwwwww..." "Oh cmon I'm not that bad." The children glared at him. "Hey, it's not my fault I have to make sure ya'll stay in your quarters. Blame it on the Lady. Though, I advise against it, cuz she'll have you turned into a Nome." The kids all rolled their eyes, and resumed going towards Six and Seven to talk to them.
-Time Skip-
What, are you disappointed that I time skipped? Well too bad! If anything, I'm helping you. You would be so confused with a bajillion kids talking at once. You're welcome.
Anyhoo, they were done talking to the kids, but not before they all sang Six the "Happy Birthday Song". Some of them didn't even know most of the lyrics, which is kinda sad, so they just pretended they knew it by humming the tune while the others sang. It wasn't that good of a performance. Seven wanted to leave multiple times, but Six stopped him and told him it wasn't polite to just leave. Roger was covering his ears, wanting to just go clean the floors or something, when it was finally over. Six was acting like she was full of joy. "Thanks guys!" After they all said your welcome at the top of their lungs, Roger, Six, and Seven left.
"Welp, I'm gonna go clean something. I'll see you all later. Oh, and happy birthday, Six."
"Thanks Roger. See ya!"
The two kids were tired from the long day, and decided to go rest. When they reached their usual spot, Six looked over at Seven, and smiled a little. "Today was fun, dontcha think?" "Yeah. All that matters is if you had fun. So tell me, did you have a happy birthday?" She giggled. "Yeah, I guess I did. Thanks." Seven smiled, and laid down, ready to sleep. He then felt something warm next to him. He looked over and saw that Six was snuggled up next to him. He started blushing wildly, and just looked up to the ceiling. She was warm, and made him feel warm. Even though this place was probably as dangerous and scary as hell, he felt safe. He felt...happy. "Good night Six." "Good night Seven." And with that, they peacefully went to sleep.
Eeeee they're so adorable! Oh but if they only knew.... You see, dear reader, there was one detail that I may or may not have left out. Remember the Pretender? How she wanted to get revenge on Six? Well you'll be seeing a lot of her soon.... Dum dee dum...Oh, did I not tell you?
She's Here.
Wow! That may have been the longest chapter I've ever done! I don't know, I'd have to check. But this is intriguing! So many questions, not as many answers! Oooooooh, mysteryyy.
Are Six and Seven officially a thing?
What is the Pretender going to do when she finds Six?
Who are these mysterious masked Guests?
Find out all of these and more in the next chap-! Oh no wait. You probably won't find these in the next chapter. But maybe the one after. Or maybe the one after that. Or...ahh well, you get the picture. Keep watching, dear reader, and I'll see you in the next chapter!
