Juan and Jasmine readies themselves from the next move that the devil would do. Jasmine attentively watches the surroundings for any movements. Juan is reading his body for any attack that may come. And the tentacle of black mass starts to slither back from the devil's shadow.

The moon is blocked by the endless sea of clouds but a moonlight cracks the darken sky and shines upon the woods. The shadow of the trees starts to lengthen, the creatures of the night starts to growl in union and the silence of the wind is a song to the devil's due.

The devil's red eye starts to glow; he puts up an innocent smile and retracts his tentacles back to his shadow. This gave Juan the chills. He gets it; any sudden movements can lead to an early end.

"Please, let's be civil here? Aren't we all sentient creatures? I just wanted to talk to my . . . business partner, our dear Chronicler." The devils raspy voice was replaced by a sweet charming one. He sounds like a DJ that Jasmine listens to the radio.

The devil claps his hands; on cue, a round table with lit candle on top of it and three chairs appeared in front of them. White table cloth and chair of unique design; like a fine dining setup. The devil's aura changed from threatening to a welcoming one. He sits down to the chair nearest to him and asked the two to sit down as well.

"Well Juan, I am here not for your soul. The contract of the guardians is clear: we devils are not to harm the guardians in any possible way to get your soul early. I am here for a business meeting with our esteemed Chronicler."

Jasmine did what the devil asked; to sit at the table.

"Are you out of your mind? This is a devil! You might get dragged to his realm if you sit there.

"I am tired from our travels. We are tired. Can we just take a sit?"

"With the devil! Come on. If you want us to sit, I'll give us a sit"

Juan then imitates the clapping of the devil and two wooden chairs manifested underneath the earth. It is made from wood just like the chair of the devil, but this one looks rugged. Jasmine feels relaxed with the cushion of wool and foam on the chair she is sitting.

"Nah, this chair is comfy. That looks hard to sit on."

The devil laughs and the trickster pouts. Juan still won't trust the devil and sits on the chair he made. Juan got every right not to trust the devil but he feels the devil won't leave until it is heard. Juan is agitated from the devil's tricks while Jasmine is enjoying the show the devil is putting up.

"Now, we are all settled. I would like to conduct this business official started!" A fanfare of trumpets can be heard around them. Confetti and colorful materials are showered above their heads.

"Now, firstly we will discuss with the recent death of your guardians. There are three guardians who we collected their soul from the last cycle. They met an untimely death from the hands of the some vile creatures"

"Bastard! I know that you devils are behind this ruse! You killed them like how you are trying to kill me and the Chronicler."

Juan's temper is rising from the news. He becomes impulsive and less like the guardian Jasmine knew a while ago. Jasmine grabs Juan shoulder and asked him to not to anger the devil. Juan retorts and reminded her to keep her wits when speaking or dealing with the devil.

"Loki, please. The contract is clear about this. Any guardian's death accompanied by my action will lead to my death by the hands of those creatures from paradise. I mean why I would risk myself for their souls? I can wait until they die!"
