Echo's POV
January 17th, Tuesday

It's been a little over an hour since Kai caught me staring at him. I've been avoiding his questioning eyes this entire time. But it's hard when you're stuck in the same room, unable to escape each other.

I fiddle with the pencil in my hand as I stare at the worksheets I was given by Professor Jenkins; he's my music teacher who's super nice. Mr. Jenkins is 60 years young, he's been married since he was 17 years of age. His wife's name is Mary-Lynn. She's extremely nice as well. They have two sons who live not far from them with their own families. I've met them all. The Jenkins also owns the music shop I work at, so they're technically my bosses as well. Plus I've known them since diapers.

They're both close to my parents. They all share the same love for classical music. They get together once a month to attend a piano show. My dad plays the piano, while my mom plays the violin. I didn't exactly stick for the classical instruments. I prefer the drums and electric guitar, both very loud.

I don't notice when my hands start drumming the pencils on the desk. Kai looks up from the new book he found to read, at the sound. He watches as my hands drum the pencils against the desk, creating music from the beats now In my head. A small smile graces his face as he closes the book and just listens to the familiar beat of Titanic by Jackson Wang.

"I didn't know you played pencils!" Kai says startling me. I turn around with wide eyes.

"What?" I ask confused. Kai burst into a loud, and genuine laugh. He wipes away fake tears.

"Did you not realize you were drumming your pencils on the desk just a bit ago?" Kai asks genuinely. No.

"I- uh. No. Being a music major and all, you tend not to realize that you're even doing it. It comes naturally I guess." I say flustered.

"So do you actually play the drums?" He asks while getting up and pulling Izzy's chair from her desk to sit next to me.

I nod my head. "Yup! Drums and the electric guitar! My parents wanted me to learn to play the piano and violin, but they understood that I prefer less classical instruments!" I say with a breathy laugh. He nods.

"Let me guess; you probably can sing really well?" He asks but more of like a joke as he gestures his hands around dramatically. Yes as well.

"Yes. I actually can sing! Blake and I both can sing. We both took lessons when I was 15 and he was 18." I say. His mouth opens and closes a few times.

"YOU'RE BASICALLY A WATTPAD GIRL!!!" He yells while waving his arms around, "You sing, play instruments, you are stuck in a room with a guy, you're moody and closed off to a certain point! Holy shiz! I should start writing a book about this!" He says all of sudden. He stands up from the chair and grabbing Izzy's laptop. He types a few things on her laptop before walking back over to me with a big smile and sitting back in the chair.

"Do I even wanna know?" I ask. He shakes his head 'no' while mouthing a 'no' dramatically. I nod my head slowly.

"Wanna play giant UNO?" He asks. I shrug my shoulders while saying 'sure, why not.'.

We played several games. We both won numerous times. Kai is actually super fun to play with, he's extremely competitive. He would fit in well with my family. We're all super competitive. We like winning, but we don't care if we do end up losing. After all, it is just a game, it isn't that deep.
