[Charlie's POV]
Friday seems to come quicker this week. I roll out of bed and walk downstairs, passing by the library and into the kitchen.
"Good mormning hun, breakfast's on the table. Your sisters are in there already, can you bring in their plates?" My mom asks, cheerful as ever.
I nod, grabbing the plates off the marble counter. I make my way down the long hallway, pausing to look into the living room where my dad is, smoking a cigar. He turns to look at me, giving me a smile before turning to the tv again.
I finally make my way into our dining room where the radio is playing classical, my mom's favorite. I set down their plates in front of them and walk over to the other side of the table, where my plate is. Sitting down, I begin to talk.
"So, you guys are up e-early," I say nerveously. "Anything going on?"
"Shut up. We don't want to talk to you. " Rose says.
"Jeez, why are you so mean to me? What did I do to piss you off so bad?" I ask . But i already know. I know why they torment me without end, and it's because I'm a boy.
"You're unnatural. Whhat you are is disgusting, and you know it, you t-" Mom walks in before she could finish her sentence. Because if she did, I would've climbed over our table and slapped her.
"Good morning, children!" Mom says, setting down her own plate.
"Mom, Rose and Josie and being mean. Tell them to stop." I tell mom.
" Girls, stop being mean to your brother. He's been going through some tough things. " My mom says to them, still with a smile on her face. They say nothing, they only whisper something to each other and giggle. I swear, if mom wasnt here, i'd go crazy.
"Honey, come get your food, it'll go cold!" My mom yells to my dad while tearing a huge chunk of meat off her breakfast. My dad walks into the room, sits down, and starts eating with us.
" Mom, all we're saying is that he's unnatural. Have you seen his room? " Josie says.
"Girls respect your brother. He's our ticket to seem like a normal family." My mom says, finishing off her breakfast. " You know that, right? "
"Yes, mom. " My sisters say in unison.
After eating, i go upstairs and brush my teeth and change clothes. I clear off my desk and grab my homework. I walk downstairs, grabbing my backpack and shoving my homework in it. I dont care if its crinkled when i get to school.
I walk over near the door, about to leave when i hear a nasty crunch. I turn around and see my mom with a headless rat in her hands.
"Love you, have a good day at school sweetie!" She says with her mouth full.
" love you too, mom. " i say.
I walk out the door where i see a black car waiting to pick me up. A man gets out of the passenger's seat and opens the door for me. I get into the back and buckle my seatbelt. Midway through the drive to school, i look through the steel fence separating me from the driver and ask,
"Are we monsters?"
The guard in the passenger seat looks at me for a split second.
"Dont worry about it, kid."
So i dont. The car stops at my highschool. The guard once again opens the door for me. I get out, and walk over to the old willow tree and wait for Rev.
