CHAPTER TWO

"Alright class, don't forget to study for your test tomorrow. The teacher says as the bell rings.

I quickly pack up my bag and leave the classroom. I start making my way towards my boyfriend Ashton's class. I see him walking with his friends and I speed up and put my hand in his. He looks down at me surprised as I lace our fingers together.

"Hi, Ash." I smile up at him. He is a good 6 inches taller than me.

"Are you going to be eating lunch in the cafeteria today?" I ask.

"No, sorry babe. The guys and I were gonna practice for our game this Friday."

"Oh, okay," I say. "I was just hoping we could eat together today, since-"

"Look, I said no, give it a rest already." He interrupts me angrily.

"Sorry," I say. He pulls his hand away from me and walks down the hallway, chatting with his friends again. I look watch after him until someone else enters my vision.

It's Piper.

"Were you spying on my conversation again, Piper?" I ask, squinting at her.

"I told you, that guy is nothing but a rusty old tool."

"He is not! He really is a good guy, he's just nervous about the game!" I defend.

"Yeah, whatever. You can't argue with stupidity."

I scowl at her then push her shoulder.

"Hey! What was that for?"

"For being mean," I respond.

She shoves me back and we both start laughing.

"Alright, let's get to lunch. They have your favorite!" Piper says.

"Fish Sticks?"

"Yup."

"YEAH, BABY!"

I grab her arm and rush towards the lunchroom.

***

"Piper!" Someone shouts from across the cafeteria.

Piper and I are standing over to the side of the room, with our lunch trays in hand.

I look over and see Raven waving over at us. I haven't even talked to her but we have seen each other in the hallways.

"Come on, Kat," Piper says, grabbing my elbow and leading me towards Raven's table. We get there quickly and Piper immediately sits down next to Raven. I glance at the other people at the table and see the only other empty seat is right next to...

Are you kidding me?

Jaxton Brey is sitting right next to Raven, casually eating his food.

I have had most of my classes today with him and now I have to sit with him at lunch?

I sigh and take a seat.

Piper grins the biggest smile I've seen in a while.

"Kat, this is Raven, Raven this is Kat." She says.

Raven looks up at me and gives me a little smile. "I think I've seen you around before."

Raven is a pretty girl. I had a crush on her back in 7'th grade but I got over it quickly. She has pale white skin and bright, curly red hair. Her eyes are a vibrant blue, too.

"Yeah," I respond, "we have Spanish together."

"Oh yeah! Well, it's nice to formally meet you."

"Same here."

I look down at my lunch tray and see my fish sticks missing. I look back up and around quickly. The guy next to me has half of a fish stick in one hand and the empty container in the other. I've never seen this guy before.

"Sorry, did you want that?" He asks, shoving the last bite in his mouth.

I glare at him with wide eyes. "Those were mine!" I yell.

"My bad." He says, mouth filled with fish.

He swallows MY fish sticks then gives me a goofy grin.

"I'm Drew. But everyone calls me Laimen."

"I'm pissed, and you just ate MY FISH STICKS!"

To the other side of me, Jaxton bursts out laughing.

"What are you laughing at, dickwad?" I turn, scowling.

"You, obviously." He says, laughing harder.

"Oh my god! You speak!" I yell, eyes wide.

"Hardy-har." He says, crossing his arms over his chest defensively.

"So I'll take it that you two already know each other?" Raven asks.

"Sadly." He and I reply in unison. We make eye contact and he narrows his eyes.

Everyone else at the table laughs. I turn back to Laimen.

"Anyways, fish stick stealer," I say, "My name is Kattalyn, but you can call me Kat."

"Well, it was nice to meet you, Kat. But I better get going. I've got a previous engagement."

He Gets up and jogs out of the lunchroom. I look questioningly at Raven and she shrugs.

"He's probably meeting up with a new boy." She says.

"Isn't that his third boyfriend this month?" Piper asks.

"He's a real heartbreaker, that one."

Suddenly, the bell rings. Everyone at the table leaves but Piper walks over to me.

"So what do you think?" She asks.

"I think that this is going to be an interesting year."
