Nice to Meet You Too, Dickwad

CHAPTER ONE

"Hey Kat."

"What's up"

"Hi Kattalyn"

I smile and reply to all of the people who are talking to me in the hallway. It feels strange to get all this attention after being practically invisible for my entire life, but after I got together with Ashton everyone started taking notice of me a lot more.I hear a faint yelling behind me and turn to look.

A girl is running down the hallway screaming at the top of her lungs. I groan and try to hide because I know who it is.

"KAAAAAAAAT!" She yells barreling into me.

"Yes, Piper?" I ask, as kindly as I can manage.

Piper and I have been friends for mostly our entire lives. We grew up together and have always been best friends. She is a little tough to handle, but honestly so am I sometimes.

She grabs onto my shoulders and shakes me back and forth while speaking rapidly.

"Piper, calm down, I can't hear a word you're saying!" I exclaim.

She takes a breath and pulls me super close and stares into my eyes.

"It finally happened." She says.

"What finally happened?"

"Raven! She asked me out!"

"Really?"

"Yeah! We started going out just this morning!"

I start getting excited for her. Piper has been crushing on Raven for a long time now, it makes me happy to see her so giddy.

"That's amazing!" I grin. We start walking towards my class and she is bouncing and skipping her way down the hallway. She gets funny looks but I don't think she really cares about anyone else right now.

"Yeah!" She exclaims. "Raven invited us to sit with her and her friends at their table today during lunch! No more eating by ourselves outside!"

"I was going to see if Ashton wanted to have lunch with us today though," I say."You know that good-for-nothing boyfriend of yours is just going to be racticing football again. 

Why even bother going out with him? He doesn't even care about you!"

"He dos too care about me! And stop calling him good-for-nothing! He is so sweet and loving!""Kattalyn he's been non-stop pursuing you since freshman year, don't you think it's a little odd?"

"No," I defend, "I think it's endearing."

"If you like him that much then keep dating him. I just don't want to see you get hurt."

"I won't get hurt. He is truly a romantic person."

"Whatever."

"Anyways, this is my stop," I say, outside of my home economics class.

"Alright well, I will see you at lunch then."

"Okay, bye, Piper!" We hug and she skips off down the hallway to her class. I take my seat by the window and watch the basketball team practicing outside.

I space out while the teacher reviews what we learned last week. I only really start paying attention when we begin covering something new.

"Alright, class please write everything marked in red. It will be on your test this Friday." The teacher, Daimond, says.

I quickly scribble down everything written on the board. My grades have been getting higher lately and I don't plan on changing that anytime soon. I hear a knock on the door and lookup. Daimond walks over and opens it and some boy with dark brown hair is standing out there. He's probably here to deliver something from another teacher. I go back to my notes and continue writing.

"Alright class, this is Jaxton Brey, he's going to be a student in this class from now on."

I glance up at the board and see the teacher pointing at my table. The only other empty seat in the classroom is right next to mine.

"You can sit next to Kattalyn over there."

He walks over and plops down in the chair.

"Just copy down these notes in red." The teacher says.

He pulls out a notebook and a pencil and begins writing.

"Hey," I whisper. He glances over at me then back at his paper.

Now that he's this close, I can see his eyes are a stunning cobalt blue. They are a stark contrast to his golden-colored skin.

"I'm Kat," I say, sticking my hand out for him to shake. Once again he just stares at me then continues writing. Then the bell rings and he gets up quickly and leaves.

I scowl after his leaving figure. "Nice to meet you too, dickwad."
