Sheng Jiaoyang arrived at the doorway, and she could already hear the sounds of laughter.
She heard her grandfather's hearty laughter, Grandmother Andy's and Grandfather Shen's laughter...and also Lin Yan's.
Everyone was laughing except herself.
Sheng Jiaoyang didn't know what kind of mood she retained as she pushed the door open. What came into view was everyone talking and laughing around the bed.
She slowly looked towards the bed and her eyes fell on the person sitting on it. A dazzling smile was plastered on that familiar face.
Having seemingly sensed her gaze, the person sitting on the bed suddenly turned her head. Upon seeing her, that person's lips unexpectedly curled upwards and her expression turned somewhat playful.
Who are you? Are you Xu Jiaojiao? Sheng Jiaoyang opened her mouth, but no words came out. She could only silently ask.
That person slightly raised her chin and smilingly said, "I'm back!" It seemed as if she was saying that to the other people in the room, but Sheng Jiaoyang knew that those words were actually meant for her.
"Who are you?" Grandfather Yang turned to look at her and asked.
"I'm Jiaojiao!" Sheng Jiaoyang walked forward with an anxious look on her face.
"Yes, she's Xu Jiaojiao!" the person sitting on the bed said with a smile.
A smile appeared on Grandfather Yang's face, but he was polite and distant as he said, "Oh, what a coincidence. Our Sheng Jiaoyang's nickname is also Jiaojiao."
Sheng Jiaoyang was unable to speak of her bitter suffering. She wanted to tell her grandfather: Grandpa, take a closer look, I'm your Sheng Jiaoyang! But, even if she said that now, no one would believe her.
"Our princess finally woke up. We must host a party to celebrate this happy occasion!" Fu Lailin smilingly said.
Sheng Jiaoyang felt like an outsider. She was clearly standing next to them, but no one knew her, so she stood aside and watched everyone pamper the other 'Sheng Jiaoyang' who'd just woken up.
"Alright, our 'Jiaoyang' just woke up. She should rest some more and revitalise herself. Only then will she have the energy to attend tonight's party."
Sheng Jiaoyang was thus driven out of the room. She wanted to talk to the other 'Sheng Jiaoyang' alone, but if she proposed that now, the others would only find her imposing and wouldn't allow it.
"Grandfather," she called out to Grandfather Yang.
Grandfather Yang smiled. "You're a born socialiser. What can I do for you?"
Sheng Jiaoyang walked up to him and stared at the relaxed look on his aged face. He must've felt better after 'Sheng Jiaoyang' woke up.
"What's the matter?"
Sheng Jiaoyang took a deep breath and said, "Grandfather, now that 'Jiaoyang' has woken up, did you notice any difference?"
Grandfather Yang muttered a few words under his breath, but under Sheng Jiaoyang's expectant gaze, he poked the cane lightly on the ground and said, "She's lost weight."
"..." Sheng Jiaoyang suddenly didn't know what else to say.
"No, I must let someone prepare some extra dishes," Grandfather Yang muttered as he walked away.
Staring at his departing figure, Sheng Jiaoyang's eyes got teary.
Her grandfather was obviously younger than Grandfather Shen, but he appeared much older than the latter. Just how much suffering did her grandfather go through these days?!
