~The next morning~

Natsu POV

Happy and I walked back to the guild from our house to get some breakfast before going on a quest to get more money for food. I stayed up all night yesterday because I couldn't stop thinking about Lucy. I think I'm going to invite her on the quest with us today! I doubt that she will accept it but it's worth a try.

I kicked the door open and yelled at everyone to announce my presence.

"Hey Elsa! Let's fight!" I yelled at Gray.

"What did you call me, Flame Brain?" he yelled back. We started arguing and the whole guild involved in our battle once we accidentally knocked over Erza's cake.

We were all screaming at each other while I just laughed. I looked around and saw that the only people that weren't involved in the fights were Wendy and Romeo who were talking with each other, Gajeel who was watching Levy read a book. Lisanna and Mira were behind the bar washing dishes and laughing. Then there was the one that I was really surprised by. Lucy

I expected that since she is the princess of the dragons and all, she should be wanting to get into every fight she sees but all she's doing is watching all of us fight with a bored expression on her face while sipping her milkshake.

I walked over to her and she noticed me right away but didn't bother to acknowledge my presence.

"What are you doing over here? I would have thought that you would be the one to fight and beat us all into next week like you did to everyone else you've fought. I'm sure you could make all of them poop their pants just by you being in the middle of the hall" I said and laughed.

She suddenly looked very mad and her milkshake cup shattered under her strong grip. She stood up with her bangs covering her eyes and all the fighting in the guild stopped immediately. She started walking towards me and grabbed my collar to stop me from backing up. Then, for the first time that I've ever heard, she spoke.

"Do you think that I like having everyone run for the hills the second they see me." She said the words very quietly but everyone could hear them. I looked directly into her eyes and saw a dangerous glint of a variety of emotions in them. Anger, disappointment, but most of all, sadness. She released my shirt and started walking out of the guild after picking Isabelle up and putting her in her arms.

I was in pure shock. I didn't think that I would hear her voice for a while. I thought about her words, did she mean them? Did people really fear her that much to run away from her at first sight?

After I got over my shock, I ran out the doors after her. I didn't see her anywhere but I saw a sight of wings in the distance. I started running after them, somehow knowing that they belonged to her.

After about 15 minutes of running, the wings finally landed in front of a small house. She went inside and locked the door. I decided to try to find another way inside and found there was a window in the back that was slightly open. I jumped up and opened it enough for me to fit inside. As I slipped in, I heard the shower running and I saw Isabelle sleeping in a small bed-like crib in the corner of the room. I decided to stay in the room until she came out and to try to talk to her.

Lucy POV

After saying my answer to Natsu, I grabbed Izzy and we walked out. I could feel the tears slipping down my cheeks and I whipped them away before Izzy could notice. Unfortunately for me, she noticed anyway. She jumped up to wrap her arms around my neck and hugged me tightly. I hugged her back and we stood there until I heard the doors to the guild slowly open. I opened up my wings and flew off as quickly as I could in order to get away from him. The crying made me unable to smell who it was but I didn't need my nose to know that it was Natsu.

We got home and I walked through the door making sure to lock it. Izzy fell asleep on the way here so I set her down in her bed and went to take a shower. I used my lavender vanilla body wash with my hibiscus scented shampoo and conditioner. After a while of just standing there and silently crying, I walked out and realized I left my clothes on the bed. I made sure to make it look as though I hadn't been crying in case Izzy was awake and then I walked out. I let out a small yelp when I saw Natsu sitting on the bed with his head in his hands. As soon as he heard my yelp, he looked over to me and saw me in the towel. He blushed and looked away while I looked over at Isabelle and made sure she was still asleep. I sighed in relief when she appeared to still be asleep. I quickly walked over to the bed to get my clothes and I saw Natsu stiffen as I got closer. I grabbed the clothes and went back inside the bathroom to change.

After I changed, I saw Natsu now laying down on my bed and looking at the ceiling. I snapped my fingers to get his attention and started walking towards the kitchen. I knew he was following by the sound of his footsteps. I walked over to get some water and then sat down on the couch. He stood there awkwardly at the foot of the doorway just staring at me. I patted the spot next to me and motioned for him to come over. He walked over and sat next to me but I scooted away to avoid contact.

I took a small sip of water and asked, "Why are you here?" in a quiet voice.

"I'm here to apologize," I started choking on my water and was coughing violently. Natsu looked at me worriedly.

"You what?" I explained.

"I'm here to apologize, I didn't know that my words would have such an impact on you and I'm sorry."

"Wow." I leaned back into the couch.

"Wow what?" he asked as he also leaned back into the couch.

"That's the first time anyone besides Izzy who's apologized. This is also the most I've talked to anyone besides Izzy in four years."

He looked at me with a shocked expression. "Really?!" I nodded and he suddenly hopped closer to me and pulled me into a hug. I was, once again, very uncomfortable and stiff until I finally relaxed in his arms and wrapped my hands around his waist.

I'm really glad I talked to him.
