"Mother, mother!! Don't leave me alone. I need you!!Mother!! I wake up breathing heavily and sit up slowly looking around my room.I pass my hand through my hair and hug my knees.I couldn't control my tears as they ran down my face like a stream.I have had this dream for the past few days were I have a blur vision of a woman and hear her calling me her daughter. But, when i try to reachout the woman disappears leaving me alone in a large, empty room calling her and hearing my own voice echo.
I look out the window at the clearing sky and back at the picture on the wall.I was born to Janet and Mark Kingsley on rainy day in the month of June.Day, month nor year to be mentioned, it was the day I entered the world and the smile and joy on my mother's face made me believe it was going to be a good life. But all too soon, mother left. The doctor's report was that she was too weak from loss of blood and died.Of all those affected by mother's death, it was dad who suffered the most.Unfortunately, i was blamed for the death of my mother.I guess he couldn't carry the pain alone hence, this was his way of sharing his pain.
My Auntie took me in, nurtured me for as long as I know till we moved to another place.Dad was left behind as he couldn't stand to be around me as all i did was to be a reminder of his pain.I grew up accepting the fact that my father didn't want me and I was the cause of my mother's death.Even though Aunt Helena would always say not to think that, I couldn't help but do so.
At school, I always tried to fit in wherever possible but i either got bullied or used.I was always mocked for something about me.It was either my body or my sense of fashion, so I was always changing who I was to fit into every friendship group I joined. I changed so many times I lost 'me'.
