You could sense the moment everyone noticed her. There was a shift in the energy, all of it seeming to be pulled towards her. My heart sunk when I stole a glance at Wemi and I could see the interest written on his face.
I watch her, looking for what exactly is drawing everyone’s thoughts.
She is of average height, normal size, complexion is on the lighter side, her eyes are a bit small, tiny button nose, wide smiling mouth of which you can only see the red lipstick which come all together in a weirdly beautiful way. She’s wearing one of those tops that sway in the wind, showing you a peep of just enough cleavage to get your attention but from what I can see her breasts are no bigger than B cups. What really stands out is her hips clad in dark blue jeans. You’d think the normal blue jeans would offset the attractiveness of the ensemble but on her, they look like the ones people probably buy for $400.

I watch her get closer and closer, already interacting with the guys at the table because well, apparently, they’re all buddies. People I’ve known for years, who can’t say much more than hi (and only in dire situations) are all suddenly animated because this person I’ve never seen has arrived. What’s her secret? What’s she hiding in her pockets? Voodoo dolls? Which, judging by the size of her pockets and her teeny tiny bag, is impossible. So what is it?
I watch her all night. Not even scared that she’ll see me doing so because she is sitting far away enough and everyone seems to be wanting a piece of her, she doesn’t even notice me.
When I decide I’ve had enough and will probably get a headache from watching this mysterious person, I signal to Wemi that I’m ready to leave. I can tell he doesn’t want to go though so I tell him to stay. I can’t add guilt for boring my boyfriend to my list of problems. I say a general goodbye to everybody which is when she finally looks up from her seemingly interesting conversation, if the amount of laughter is anything to go by, and stares directly at me.
In that one moment of eye contact, I know that something has changed forever. Something big is coming.

I go outside leaving the one person who means the world to me in dangerous waters. There are sharks in there and they’re not afraid to bite.
