(Amadora POV)
We went back to the dormitory. We gathered information from the books we had, about the person who knew the future, but they probably forgot their mealtime. Therefore, I sneaked out of the room, went to the kitchen, cooked yummy nuggets and salad for them.
"Lunch time!" I shouted in their ears.
Obviously, they ignored me and continued flipping through books at random.
'Brush your teeth,'said Luna absentmindedly, twiddling her pen.
Okay.So if they didn't understand me,I would have to drop down to their level.Brush your teeth,hmm...I'd take that as Wait for us.So we were talking about dental care, and if I wanted to say be quick....
'Floss before brushing,'I announced.
'AGH,'said Alyssa.'We're almost done here anyway.Fine.'
The three of them hopped out of their seats and made their way to the dining table.I passed them their lunch.
'Thanks,'said Chloe.
'Any discoveries?'I said anxiously.
'Nope,'said Luna, spooning salad into her mouth.'We do have, however,a list of all the people who may have been Seers in 1997.'
Alyssa handed me a piece of paper.'The first five are a few children, which makes us think it was really unlikely for them to have made this prophecy. They're well-known now, though. The last six are old people of ages 92,95,97,98,103 and 104,so we can cross that off the list as well. The remaining ten are adults, and the most likely. All we have to do is track them down.'
'That's great!'I said. Why were they so down and gloomy about this?
'No,it's terrible.Weren't you listening to Miss James in class this morning?'said Luna.
'No,'I said truthfully.
'She mentioned that most Seers only have one prediction in their whole lifetime. Most of them die a few days after that prediction.Even if they don't,they go senile.I'm going to search up those Seers who did die in the period of 1997-2019,'she finished, chomping on a chicken nugget.
'Argd bugschis e shagt rebet garschid gut hare gashy biff,'said Alyssa with her mouth full.
'Are you okay?'I said.
She gave a huge swallow, and said,'And besides,we can't even know where they live.'
'We can't search up governmental records,'said Chloe, seeing my expression.
'How do we track them down, then?'I said.
'That's what we're working on,'said Luna.'They might be important,or they might be able to tell us the full prophecy.Even if they're too senile to do so,there must be at least some witnesses.'
'Can I help?'I said.
'Yeah,'said Luna.'Switch on the computer in my room.I'll need it later.'
As I left the common room,I could have sworn I saw Luna and Alyssa muttering among them and staring after me.
Then I looked back, and they were eating once again.
Time skip brought to you by my chicken nuggets
Luna's room could have won an award for messy.
There were scraps of paper everywhere, notebooks and pencils strewn all over the floor. One of the walls was pasted full with posters of characters and movies.I did notice that most of them were animated cartoons.
I moved to the corner, where a computer sat on a paper-strewn desk. There was a noticeboard above it,with notices such as 'DON'T FORGET TO FINISH THAT ESSAY' and a sketch of some aircraft pinned to it.I switched it on and returned to the common room, where the three of them had already finished lunch.I took their bowls back into the kitchen, where I washed them, wondering whether they'd be able to find the information we needed.
When I returned,Luna was already in her room, typing fast on her computer.'You should clean up this mess,'I told her, pointing at the messy floor.
'Potato chips,'she answered.
I sighed, rolled my eyes, and headed back out to help Alyssa and Chloe.
They were sitting near the fireplace, discussing something in low tones.I walked over to them.'Hi,'I said.
'Hey,Ama,'said Alyssa.'Help me read this.'She tossed me a heavy hardcover book which caught me in the stomach.'Yeuch,'I complained.
The title read,Latest Seers of the Century.I flipped it open and pages of words unfolded before me.
