"I still can't believe I started a food fight," said Sarah Tuesday morning at breakfast.

"I still can't believe you're an animagus," said Charlie.

He wasn't the only one. Aside from the club challenge and the Sphinx club's victory, the fact that Sarah was an animagus was the primary topic of gossip at the school currently.

"There are now at least five kids stuck in a cursed portrait, and all anybody will talk about is how I can transform into a Labrador," she said.

"Well, you're a very cute Labrador," said Charlie, spreading butter on his toast.

"Thanks, Charlie. I'll remember that when I'm on the train home after being expelled," she said. "At least I'm a cute Labrador."

"Exactly," he said through a huge bite of toast. "If being a witch doesn't work out, you have being a house pet to fall back on."

"I'd adopt you," said Rowan.

"Relax," said Bill. "Pitts doesn't know who started the food fight in the kitchens. You're not going to get any worse punishment than the double detentions for a week. And now, you're one step closer to getting that vault portrait."

Sarah relaxed a little, knowing he was right.

"Here comes the post," said Charlie, looking up as owls flew into the hall. "Hey Sarah, I see Wingsworth."

Wingsworth was Sarah's owl. "Oh no, he's delivering a message from Dumbledore telling me to come to his office to he can expel me!" She cowered under the table in the hopes that Wingsworth wouldn't find her. Of course, the owl had no trouble, and he dropped an envelope on the table in front of her porridge.

"Sarah?" Bill called to her. "You're gonna wanna see this."

"Slowly, she crawled out from under the table and peered her eyes over just enough to see the purple envelope.

"A club invite?"

"That's two!" said Bill. "Well done!"

"Please be Sphinx, please be Sphinx," said Rowan as Sarah sat back down and tore open the envelope.

"Hippogriff," she said.

"Drat," said Rowan.

"Cool," said Bill. "You'd make a great Hippogriff. You gonna join?"

"I don't know," she said. "I feel pretty loyal to the dragons."

"Atta girl," said Charlie, giving her a high-five.

"Still, I'll go check it out," said Sarah. "Could be fun."

Penny was delighted to hear the news. "I'll take you up to the clubhouse first thing after dinner," she said in Herbology. "You're gonna love it. It's absolutely beautiful."

The Hippogriff clubhouse was on the first floor, behind a curtain of thick vines with budding flowers. Penny pressed a few of the flowers and the vines parted.

"If you press the wrong flowers, the vines grab you and won't let you go until someone comes to let you out," she explained. "Barnaby's been stuck twice."

Sarah had to admit the clubhouse was beautiful. It reminded her a bit of the greenhouses. Most of the ceiling was made of glass so that the plants could get sunlight. Most of the floor was covered in grass or garden space, and the rest was clean stone. The room was divided in the middle by a pond with a wooden bridge. There was also an alcove full of bubbling cauldrons, dried herbs hanging on the wall and jars of potion ingredients stacked against the wall, hiding from the sun.
