His horse's speed made dust arise behind him.His helmet was pulled up as he galloped through the crack of dawn.He gripped the rope,making sure not to fall off.He rode over the hills,seeing the castle not far away.
"Heeyah!"yelled the messenger.
The horse wailed as it galloped faster.With the castle closer,he pulled his helmet down to hide his face.He soon rode through the town,ignoring the screams.He saw the stone bridge and the gates to enter the castle.With a straight face,he halted his horses when he got to the gates.The guards stopped him,pulling up their own helmets.
"I'm here,a messenger,from Emerald Kingdom,"he replied.
"We weren't expecting any messages,"said one of the guards.
"It's urgent,from the king himself..."the messenger passed,"The deceased king..."
One of the guards paused briefly before speaking.
"You may go in...."
The messenger sped off once the gates were opening.When he reached the entrance,he jumped off his horse,then strapped the rope around one of the castle pillars.Then he emerged into the castle quietly.Not a sound was heard,as if he was the only one in the castle.Which was a scene change for him since back at Emerald Kingdom there was noise everywhere.
He walked along the red carpet,then walked up a long stair way.
"Halt!"
Startled,the messenger spun around to see a guard holding a sword which was coming right for him.With wide eyes,moved to the side,almost falling off the stairway.The guard came to a skidding halt before turning and grabbing him by the arm.Then yanking his arm,the guard turned him toward its direction.
"Who are you??"questioned the guard.
He blinked,realizing it must be a women by the voice.
"I-I."
"Who are you!"
Gulping,he pulled up his helmet.
"I-I'm the messenger!From emerald kingdom!"he stuttered.
She loosened her grip on his arm,"What for?"
"I have a message from the deceased king..."
"...Blaze."
"What?"
"Blaze is my name,I'm the Princess's body guard,"she spoke,pulling off her helmet.
He blinked and studied her face,a knot stuck in his stomach momentarily.Breathless,he choked out his name.
"Silver,I'm the king's first messenger."
Blaze nodded then started walking up the stair way,"Follow me."
Silver obeyed,following her up.Neither said a word,they merely stayed silent and walked down a long and large hall.When they reached huge doors,Blaze pushed it open.The room was dimly lit,only candles mounted on the wall.Silver stood tall,clearing his throat as Blaze let him to a small table in the center of the room.Tails the fox sat at one end while Princess Amy sat next to him.Blaze stood next to Amy,arms crossed.
"Greetings.I am Silver,the Emerald Kingdom's messenger,"he spoke deeply,"I am here to deliver a message from the deceased king."
Amy gave a small gasp as Tails shook his head.
"The King sadly has been poisoned,then stabbed in the back with a blade of glass.No one knows who did it,the murder left no trace of clues.The Prince is taking over now,but the problem was...that the king knew that he was going to die sooner or later.He wrote on a scroll that was hidden under his bed that he was receiving threatening messages...."explained Silver.
"Just like my parents!"Amy almost shouted.
Tails was bewildered,"So the king of Emerald Kingdom knew about his death?"
Silver nodded,"Sadly yes,that now would explain the reason for his quick tempered attitude towards everything for the last couple of days..."
Amy looked at him with a sad smile,"I'm sorry for your loss..."
He nodded,"Same to you Princess."
"Is that all?"asked Blaze.
Silver shook his head,"We fear that the King of Chaos Kingdom will be next."
Amy blinked,"But isn't that Prince Shadow's father?"
"You are correct,"Began Tails,"Do you think the same murder was who killed Princess Amy's parents also?"
Blaze crossed her arms,"I think so,especially since both knew about their deaths."
Amy sighed,"What will happen if Shadow's father is killed?Will the murder be after us?"
They all remained silent before Tails spoke again.
"Thank you messenger Silver,we'll send another messenger right over if we find anything else on the matter."
Silver nodded before Blaze lead him
out.Amy and Tails remained in the room,talking quietly amongst themselves.
"Sorry about before,"Blaze apologized.
Silver was climbing on his horse,then looked down on her.
"It quite alright,I wasn't hurt,"he said with a small smile.
Blaze nodded,"Good...Have a safe travel back."
After climbing on the horse,he held the ropes tightly.
"I hope we meet again Blaze,"he said gently.
She looked at him,a small smile tugging at her lips.However Blaze pulled down her helmet to hide her face before clearing her throat.
"We may not,"she said quietly.
However he didn't hear that,the horse's cry blocked it out.Silver then sped off,galloping back to Emerald kingdom.
Blaze sighed,turning her back from the sun that was just now peeking out from above the trees.The beautiful colors reflected off her armor and painted the sky.Looking over her shoulder,she watched him slowly vanish.
"Or we may...meet again."
