Chapter 9

The team had uncovered their eyes as the bright light had slowly gone away. What they discovered had surprised them all. Both Jason and Jess had just disappeared before them.

"Where did they go??" Shelby squealed out loudly, but that didn't get anyone to even flinch. They were all filled with shock in what had just happened.

"What even happened??" Adam questioned, feeling as if he could panic.

"No clue! There was just a bright light—." Quentin started but was cut off by one of his louder compliances.

"MAGIC!!" Jerome and Mitch yelled at the same time, causing the team to just either be annoyed or just ignored them.

"There's no way it can be magic though right?" Brice started, "That cant be true since the only magic user we know is Se-."

"There's other magic users yes." Said a voice from behind them as he walked towards, but he ended up just walking past them. He stood before the spot where Jason and Jess disappeared before crouching down in front of it. His eyes were scanning the area, seeing if he could pinpoint exactly what had happened. The moment he seemed to find something, he stood up and turned back to the team, "...she's not a regular magic user."

"Huh? What do you mean 'not a regular magic user'? Like she used magic right in front of it!" Max exclaimed as he was clearly at a loss for words as he kept stammering over his own.

"I mean... she doesn't seem to know what she's doing. From the marks and the magic residue that she left over from teleporting i presume, it seems that's she doesn't even use magic. She's might've used it once or twice but other than that, this would be her first proper use at magic." He explained, clasping his hands together as he sighed, "Therefore it might take us another hunting trip to find her again." He sighed, which made the rest of the team sigh.

"Guys, i think we should give it a rest." Shelby said with a small frown.

"What—?" Started Adam before he whipped his head round to look at Shelby, "W-We cant stop now! We're so close, we had her in our reach, i just i..." Adam started to ramble on and on about how they were so close to getting her and answers.

"Adam." Ty said firmly as he placed a strong hand on Adam's shoulder. Adam just started to tremble as tears rolled down his cheeks, he couldn't help it as he was so close to seeing his long life friend again. He hasn't seen her in so many years and this whole thing she's pulling is really getting to him. Ty didn't realize it at first until he heard a choked sob come from Adam's throat.

Ty quickly looked at Adam and saw the tears and the pain in his face. Ty felt a bit nervous but he felt just as sad as Adam, he wasn't much sad over the fact that Jess had disappeared once again but more that he has seen Adam cry in so long that it hurts to see his best friend cry. Ty pulled Adam into a long and compassionate hug, allowing Adam to cry in his shoulder. The emotions were just too investing for him to handle. The rest of the team soon noticed and all the attention went to him, before they knew it, they all embraced Adam with a loving group hug.

"HOLY FUCK!" Yells Jason as him and Jess were suddenly falling from the sky. Jess is still fighting to escape Jason's arms as they fall to the ground.

Jason is able to get a glimpse of the ground and they were a good bit from it. Jason started to panic as they were to inch closer and closer down.

"Jess! You need to fucking do that again!" Jason yelled to Jess, he couldn't speak normally due to the hard wind that blew up on them loudly.

"Not until you let go of me!" She yelled back, looking at his eyes which were only filled with despair and fear. Jess couldn't handle that so she thought for a moment before sighing, "I-I don't know how!" She finally yells out and this causes Jason to be put into a trance.

"WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU DONT KNOW HOW?? WE'RE FALLING FROM ABOUT 400 OR SO FEET FROM ABOVE THE GROUND HOW DO YOU NOT KNOW HOW TO..." Jason was in full blown panic mode, he would usually just get really anxious and overthink and such but this was too much for his heart to handle. Jason gave out, his arms went to his chest as he felt light headed almost. He started to gasp and he didn't know what was happening, and that scared him even more.

Jess on the other hand couldn't handle being yelled at so she started to tear up, thinking of ways to stop them both from becoming splat on the ground. She didn't know, she didn't even know how she got them this high anyways. She wasn't even aware that she had used any magic. She was so confused and a bit scared herself. Jess was lost in her thoughts for a second before feeling Jason's grip completely leave her. She blinked a couple times out of confusion before she looked to Jason, seeing as he was having a full blown heart attack, "Jason??" Jess questioned, her voice shaky before screaming louder, an almost heart breaking scream, "JASON!" She grabbed Jason by the head and pulled him in, she could feel herself shaking but she could also see the ground get closer. She squeezed her eyes shut as they went to hit the ground but...

Jess and Jason rolled on the floor for a minute before hitting a wall. They both groan before Jason continues to gasp and such, Jess didn't even take time to take in her surroundings, all she knew is that they were on the ground, safe. She pulled Jason into a tight embrace and she only thought of helping and saving Jason in that moment. The more and more she thought about it, the less and less Jason would gasp for air. She practically dug her nails into the guy as she desperately didn't want him to die.

Jason's body went numb, collapsing onto Jess as she started to freak out. "Jason?? Jason??" She sat him up and shook his shoulders, his eyes were squinted and his mouth was partly open. "Jason no..." Jess' eyes began to get watery as she figured Jason was gone. The tears escaped her eyes and trailed down her cheeks, "Jason no!" Jess cried out as she hugged the lifeless Jason, her sobs echoed throughout the room, but she didn't care. She was upset for her friend that had just died in her arms, and it was her fault.
