By the next morning, Scarlet felt refreshed. After had seen the one zombie last night made her think about what she discovered. She came into the station happy and smiling. As Scarlet walked into the department, Butch saw her which he smiles too.
"How do you feel, Scarlet?" Butch asks as she walks by him.
"I feel much better," answers Scarlet. "Though, I had a interesting visitor late last night."
"Who?" he asks confused half-worried.
"Not who," correcting she answers, "more like what? A zombie."
"Are you okay?" Butch responds with panic while quickly examining over his partner. "It didn't bite you did it?! Claw at you?!"
Scarlet chuckles at his behavior amused. "I'm fine, Butch," smiling she assures. "It had rumaged through my trash and found some spoiled raw meat I had to throw out."
"Spoiled raw meat?" he replies confused, his worrisome gone. "I thought zombies eat brains? It is rare they eat anything else."
"We need to find this zombie, Butch?" implies Scarlet. "Maybe if we can find it and study the zombie carefully, we'll be able to know what type of zombie we are going up against."
"Scarlet," Butch began, "I'm all for one to figure out more information...but this is a zombie. They are dangerous if you are not safe."
"It's was just suggestion," with assurance she says. "How are we going to find out what happened the night of the incident?"
He smiles getting an idea. "I know someone who would love to help us."
"Garth," Scarlet assumes with a flirtatious smile.
"Yes," answers Butch. "He can look up the night of the incident at the lab."
"Okay, off to Garth's it is then," she announces. Scarlet snatches the keys right as he goes to grab them. "I'm driving though this time," playfully she replies before heading off.
Butch watches his partner with a smile which he sighs. He had time to grieve Syrina. Butch just wasn't sure what she would think of him moving on. He was waiting to ask Scarlet out until he had a sign from his ex-wife that she approved.
In no time, she and Butch walked across the hall and to his friend's door. They stood in front of Garth's door smiling. He was the first to knock on his friend's door.
"Garth! This is your pal, Butch! Open up please? We need your help!"
Last case, they had to wait for Garth to return from vacation before they could ask for his assistance. The door opened which he smiled liked always with friendly eyes. Garth was always happy to see his best friend.
"Butch...Butch...Butch!" he greets. "What is it this time friend? Ghosts? Ghouls?"
"Actually, no," answers Butch. "Zombies," he replies trying to keep a calm face.
"Zombies," half-scared Garth says. "Oh, no. That's not good. I know that for a fact because I watch the Walking Dead series."
"So does Butch," Scarlet responds with a smile.
"Well, I'm the one who introduced the TV series to him," smiling he explains.
She looks at her partner with a wide smile which he looked embarrassed.
"Come on in you two," Garth invites. "You know I can help with your case always."
Scarlet and Butch step into his apartment which was dark like usual. He sits down in his chair in front of his laptop. Garth placed his fingers on the keyboard ready to type.
"This case takes place at the laboratory facility not far downtown," explaining she informs. "Two nights ago. Roughly around midnight."
"You got it...laboratory...Monday night...Around tweleve o'clock."
After typing for so long and digging deep into the data base, Garth pulled up a surveillance footage. The footage at first showed Jerry who was attacked. He was just strolling along down a hall and what looked like whistling. Suddenly, the footage began to glitch!
"Whoa! Whoa! What's happening!" Butch asks his friend with concern.
"It looks like this footage was given a virus," informing he answers. "That's why it glitched all-of-a-sudden."
"Can you bypass the virus?" Scarlet queries with hope.
"I can," confides Garth, "but it will at least take me quit a few days to do so."
"Take all your time you need," she assures. "In the meantime, we'll just go back to the lab," looking at her partner Scarlet continues, "and see if hopefully R.J. is there this time. We can ask him questions that he might know how to answer."
Butch nods his head agreeing with her. His cell phone rang suddenly which he pulls out of his pocket. Butch takes the call taking a few steps away.
"So...are you and my friend a couple?" Garth asks with a grin.
"No, not yet," with a smile she answers. "I'm waiting for him to make the first move."
"Surely, men have not asked you out yet?" he guesses.
"Some have tried but I kindly told them no thank you," explains Scarlet. "I've got my eyes for Butch. I've always had ever since we met and when we went on the first case."
"Butch is going to be a lucky man to have you," Garth comments.
"Thanks, Garth," politely she says referring to his compliment.
"We'll be right there!" Butch sounded urgent before hanging the call up. Butch turns to Scarlet and his friend. "That was the hospital. Jerry is attacking the nurses!"
"Oh, no!" with concern she responds. "Let's go!"
"Thank you, Garth!" he calls back to him as they rush out of his apartment. "I owe you one!"
"No worries!" calls back Garth. "My pleasure to help! And Butch...be careful! Remember what they explained in the Walking Dead!"
"Shut it, Garth!" Butch's voice snaps at his friend.
He chuckles at his friend's reaction before closing the door.
Outside, Scarlet quickly hops into the driver side, while he climbs into the passenger seat. The van sped off really fast heading to the hospital. If Jerry was attacking the nurses, that only meant one thing.
"I hope we get there on time," she says with concern, "before anybody gets hurt?"
