Cole's POV

I woke up to the light streaming in through the window and I groan wanting to go back to sleep. I lay my head back down and shift a little. That's when I realized that I had something in my arms. I looked down and saw Kai snuggled to my chest wrapped in my arms looking so peaceful as he slept.

God he's beautiful

I thought looking at my mate. I have zero clue how we ended up like this, but I'm not complaining he is as cute as fuck snuggled to my chest. I hum softly and pulled him closure just soaking in his beautiful scent I couldn't get enough of. I kissed the top of his head and he stirs groaning.

I sadly gave into his request and let go of him. He moves over out of my reach and pulled the covers over him. I frowned wishing he was still wrapped in my arms. Then I heard a loud knock and Kai groans again throwing a pillow over his head. I giggle finding it cute and got up answering the door to see my personal maid Mindy. "Yes Mindy?" I asked. "It's almost time for your public announcement of whether or not you have found our Luna," she said and I cringed. I completely forgot about that. "How long?" I asked. "A hour then you'll be having breakfast with your beta and his new mate along with the advisor," she said. "Okay thanks," I said closing the door. I walked over to my mate shaking him. "Time to get up," I said. "No sleep," Kai said covering his face. "We're going to breakfast," I said and he looked up a little. "And to see your sister," I added and he jumps up. "I ordered some clothes to be brought yesterday they are in the closet go change," I told him. He nodded excited to see his sister than went to the closet to get his clothing on. I waited then he came out in a red shirt and dress jeans with a black blazer over his shirt. I smiled because he looked amazing in it. I left and got changed then came out wearing my business suit. I got to Kai who was waiting by the door impatiently. "Come on," he hurried. "Eager are we?" I teased. Kai huffs and I opened the door, but first held his hand. "Why are you holding my hand?" He asks. "We gotta do something first," I said. "What's that?" Kai asks. "Follow me and you'll find out," I said. He raises a skeptical eye, but doesn't question me and follows my lead. We got to the balcony where my guards are stationed at the door. Every year I had to announce if I've found the packs Luna or not. If I have a celebration is held in two weeks to officially crown them.

"Stay here and don't come out till I say so okay?" I asked. He looked hesitant before nodding his head and I let go of his hand. I opened the doors and was met with the cheers of the crowd against my ears. Nearly my entire pack comes to hear and it's broadcasted over to other pack leaders as well. I took a microphone and address my public.

"I know another mating ceremony has passed and I hope all those who found their long awaited mates are happy along with the mates. Remember it may take time, but the wolf goddess will bless us with our mates to love us as much as we love them. Now you all want to hear if this is finally the year I have found our Luna and I will say....that I have found the Luna of the pack," I announce and the crowd cheers. I wait ten minutes before they settle down so I can speak again. "I know you are all eager to meet my new mate, but first I want to say that with their arrival a change in tradition will be happening," I continue and confused murmurs go through the crowd. "You shall understand in a moment my Luna," I turn to Kai standing out of sight looking nervous. "Will you join me by my side?" I asked with a out stretched hand. It was a moment before he stepped forward and took my hand. He stepped into the light of the cameras and crowd and the entire crowd gasps realizing he was a boy. It was so silent you could hear the buzzing from crickets a mile away. Kai was looking at his feet scared. "Smile at the camera everyone's watching," I whisper in his ear. He crosses his arms and walked away from my side. I did not expect that and looked back to the crowd. "He's very shy," I said getting a few small laughs. "I know some may have doubts and questions, but the only change happening is that a Luna or alpha can be of any gender. The wolf goddess chose him to be our Luna and we must respect our Devine goddess," I said and put a hand over my heart and the rest of the crowd did the same. "Now go and be with your mates," I said and left the crowd. I didn't see Kai and I was honestly pissed at him for making me look like a fool. "Where is Kai?" I asked and a guard points in the direction he went. I follow his scent and found him in the library. I opened the door ready to scold him when I heard crying.
