Cat Cafe (Todoroki x Midoriya) Soft FF

Apology in the Cafe Foyer (Midoriya POV)

"Ahh!! I'm late!!" The frosty wind whipped at my face as I hurried down the block towards the shopping complex. My coat flew out behind me and my eyes started to water. Passer-bys turned their heads to me as I rushed past them.

It was 4:40 pm. With every stride I took, half a second past. I was so worried, I thought I would be on time. I kept my eyes up and locked on the elevator door, not paying attention to the ground beneath me. Which was stupid, of course. The sole of my right foot found a patch of fresh ice and my feet were taken out from underneath. I face planted straight onto the ground. 

I think I laid there for a couple of seconds, just hoping someone would save me from my public humiliation. It was when no one came that I picked myself up and struggled to my feet. I saw people murmuring around me but I made an effort to ignore them. I had somewhere to be.

I hobbled my way up to the elevator and pressed the button for level 3. The metal door opened quickly and I stepped into the chamber. The wait to go up felt like an eternity, like I was travelling in slow-motion. Every "ding!" the machine would make sent a jolt up my spine and my stomach churned. This was it. The moment I'd find out if this was all just a dumb ploy, or, the moment I'd get to make a good impression on Todoroki.

The light-up board finally blinked "Level 3" and my mind went blank. I thought so many thoughts at once I couldn't think at all. Like when your computer gets so many pop-up ads at once that it just crashes. The doors finally opened and I took open big step into the room - and ran right into another person.

"Oh! Aahh.. um, I'm sorry, I didn't -" I looked up into a pair of gorgeous blue and brown eyes. It was Todoroki. His half-and-half hair was ruffled over half his face and his lips were drawn into a slight smile. I stood there in awe, just... staring. It was really embarrassing, I probably looked like I got run over by a car or something. I knew I was bleeding somewhere on my face because I could feel it stinging. This was not  the best impression.

"You finally decided to show up." he chuckled to himself quitely, my appearance was probably amusing to him. I wanted to say I was just running late, but when I tried to speak, no sound came from my mouth.

"I was worried for a second there." His expression changed slightly and his gaze lowered from my eyes.

"Oh, where'd you get that?" he raised his right hand and held it under my chin. I gasped, my eyes widened and my face flushed pink. "You're bleeding."

It took me a few second to regain my voice. I felt the small stinging again on the side of my chin. It wasn't the biggest gash, but it certainly was dripping.

"Oh, yea... uh... slipped on some ice o-on my way here... But I'm okay now!" I smiled. Todoroki grinned back and lowered his hand.

"Hm, good. Hold on." He reached into the deep pockets of his cream coloured coat, clearly looking for something. Then pulled out a small zip-lock bag with a couple band-aids, tugged the bag open and picked out a small plaster. I watched him as his careful hands slowly drew back the plastic sticker that protected the adhesive. He stepped closer to me again.

"You've got to be more careful, you know? We don't want you getting hurt." Todoroki uttered. His hands moved back up to my chin and he delicately placed the band-aid on. The cut burned a little at the contact, and I drew in a quick breath through my teeth.

"There, be a little more cautious next time."

"Hah, yeah... So, you wanna go inside for a drink?"

"Sure. I'm kind of sick of sitting in this lobby."
