Something's been floating around in my head. I'm a musician as well as an author, so naturally, I've tried connecting the two wherever I can! I know this may never happen, but should White Walls ever have a TV series, I'd want the music to be just as odd and dynamic as the story it's following.
My idea is that each character has an instrument that represents them. The more this instrument/family of instruments takes over the music, the more influence/power they hold in the scene at hand. For some instruments, perhaps having more power would mean simply expanding the number of instruments, while others may be adding different instruments of the same family. I don't know; as I said, it's weird!
So far:
Cathy
Solo: Theremin
Increase in Influence: ambient electronic beats/synths and thereminJesse
Solo: Saxophone
Increase in Influence: add full brass sectionFennie
Solo: the upper octaves of a piano
Increase in Influence: the whole piano, maybe 2 pianos?Daniel
Solo: acoustic guitar
Increase in Influence: electric guitar?? A room of acoustic guitars? The lord of guitar ascending from the heavens and anointing Daniel with oil?I genuinely do not know. My mind works in odd ways!
