"Thanks Heath." I grin over my shoulder as I exit his apartment, the tall blonde watching me leave, leaning against the doorframe with a smile on his face. Heading for the stairs, I reach out, pulling myself up them two at a time, a smug expression on my face. There's nothing like a good bout of morning sex with someone in the same building as you. I trudge down the stairs in my pajamas, shoot Heath my killer smile and he opens his door to let me in.
I've been neglecting him for the last month, Ellis taking up valuable man space in my brain, almost killing my sexual appetite for the gym and the laundromat. Poor Heath downstairs didn't know what hit him. Last week when I knocked on his door, I swear his eyes were so wide that they were millimeters away from dropping out of his damn skull. The only setback was how truly excited he'd been. Hey, a girl can't win every single time!
As soon as I step onto my floor and turn towards the apartment, I grit my teeth, eyes narrowing at the sight of the package in front of the door. It better fucking not be...
Stepping closer, I reach down, rolling my eyes at the sight of my name on the front, cursing Savannah for not being on speaking terms with Brett and therefore not receiving gifts delivered directly to her door.
Shoving the door open, I walk inside, dropping my keys onto the kitchen counter before tearing the package open, holding my breath at the sight of the gorgeous pink tulips. Leaving them where they are, I grab onto the card and tear the envelope open, pulling the note out. My breath hitches in my throat at the words.
Becky, I'm so sorry. I'm not going to stop trying to make it up to you. You're special. ~ Ellis
Yeah, sorry you got caught! The fucking idiot never even showed a single sign of remorse until I actually admitted that I saw him that night and caught him doing the dirty. Not that it was even 'dirty'... it's not like him and I were together.
Grabbing onto the flowers, I shake my head, turning and leaving the apartment as fast as I came in, taking the elevator to the ground floor, stepping out and chucking the floral gift into the dumpster before wiping off my hands.
I feel a slight lump in my throat as I stare down at the now destroyed, beautiful flowers, a little guilty that I've taken Ellis' money and thrown it in the trash. But it's the only way that he's going to get the message.
This is the fifth bouquet of flowers I've chucked in the garbage since the day I blocked his number. A couple of boxes of chocolate have turned up too, Sav gratefully accepting those when I threw them towards her, shrugging her questions off and reminding her that I, Becky, have many suitors, so who knows where they come from. She seemed satisfied, munching into them quickly, but to be honest, if you want to distract my best friend from anything, you use food.
With one last, pitiful, longing look at the flowers I turn away, heading back to the elevator, ready for a fun filled day of making one hundred and fifty hair bows for a small boutique on the outskirts of the city. Sadly, my rent needs to be paid.
*~*~*
"And why do you think you'll make a good fit here at Widaris?" the man asks, sitting forward in his seat, examining me over the rim of his glasses. I wring my hands together, furiously sweating, the heat in this room fucking immeasurable. And not the good kind either.
"Not only did I study fashion at college, I focussed primarily on the formal side of the art. The way dresses fall, how they compliment a figure, the sheer way the perfect outfit can make you feel-"
"Okay, but why Widaris?" He cuts me off and I gulp.
"Uhh... because the style of clothing that you design is fitting with my experience, plus, as I mentioned, your style is obviously more formal and that-"

Romance{18+ COMPLETED} "I don't understand why you won't tolerate the idea when we're both about the same no-strings fun." "Maybe because I just don't like you," I argue. "I don't believe you." Ellis' voice startles me, not just by how low and husky it is...
