chapter 4

On the day of the interview Lilly was feeling very nervous; she was close to giving up and not going.the butterflies in her stomach were making her feel so sick she almost threw up. The only thing keeping her together so that she goes through with it was the fact that she needed this job to get away and start a new life,a life she will be happy living.

When she got to the interview she found out her old childhood friend Ben was conducting it,this made some of her nerves dissapear.the interview wasn't like what you  would call a normal one,it was conducted in groups to see if you can work well with others,and there was a part to see if you could sell anything at all.for the first part they were split into groups and had to design a section of a theme park,they had to explain why the put the games and arcades in the places that they had. Lilly was feeling a lot more relaxed now,she was getting on with her group well.

It was now time for them to sell an item,they were all given various things but they had to imagine it was something else and sell that.

Lilly was given a box that a phone came in,she didn't bother writing down and planning put what she would say,she always thinks on her feet. This is something the managers like because you have to think on your feet while working to get the customer to carry on playing.when it was time to present it Lilly went first,her nerves had completely disappeared now and she was enjoying herself. She had turned it into a story book that projects the story onto the wall so the child can feel like they were really in it,it can also be used for adults who would like to see what it's like in space or at the bottom of the ocean. This was all for the low price of £20 or you can buy two for £35.

When the group part of the interview was done they had thier one to ones,this was basically Lilly providing information to Ben that he may need to know,before they had started Ben told Lilly she has the job this was just a formality he needed to go through but she wasn't to tell anyone else yet.lilly said goodbye to Ben and went home feeling extremely happy,she is getting her life back on track.

Lilly had been working at Alton towers for a few weeks now,she always tried her hardest,she didn't want to let Ben down,even though she got the job on her own merit of she mucked up someone could come and say Ben gave her the job because he knew her.

Lilly had made loads of friends,they always laughed and joked she was happy to have more genuine people on her life; Helen was one of the best people she worked with.helen worked in the arcades and whenever Lilly was on a game near she would always come over and talk if it was quite.they all planned on going out together,getting away for the weekend. This sounded good to lilly although she doubted Adam would let her go.

Tonight when Adam got home from work he was in an extremely foul mood despite the fact that Lilly had done him some tea he was still angry at her.shebhadbworked all day,as soon as she got home she was sorting the kids out ready for bed after hearing how thier day had been,doing any cleaning and putting the washing away. Lilly liked to do this so her weekend was free for the kids.adam never appreciated the little things Lilly did.

He started to tell at her ,she was worried he was going to wake the kids up " you need to quit your job" Lilly felt her stomach drop,she didn't want to quit this was her ticket a new life, an escape from this angry man she no longer loved. With a stutter Lilly spoke "w-why" Adam just looked at her like she was the dumbest person on earth."I'm sick of having to get up early get the kids ready for school,I want my lie in.im fed up of them crying cause you aren't here, they only want you so quit and take care of the." Was Lilly really hearing this,the man that wanted her to work because he wanted the extra money was now telling her to quit, all because he can't cope doing what she has done for eight years,he has only done a small amount of time and is giving up.lilly felt angry at this ,how could he send all them times saying she was worthless,a useless waste of space when he can't even get them ready for school in the morning?

With all the courage she could muster up from the anger she is feeling she says " I'm not quitting,I'm staying till the end of the season,I love my job" Adam did not like this defiant side to lilly,he quickly got in her face, anger evident across his,he yelled at the top of his voice "it does not pay enough, I want you to get a better paid job,one that will enable you to take care of the kids" scared of what Adam may do Lilly agrees and goes to heat up his tea.

Once she gets to her room she collapses on her bed tears streaming down her face,thoughts running wild " I'm not quitting I will do the whole season." Lilly was trying to think of a way she could stay in her job " I will tell him I can't find another job,it's hard to get one around here at the mo so that should work"

" I love my job I can be myself there,no reason to hide who I really am.not knowing the people I work with before I can tell them my secret, maybe that will give me the courage to tell Casey" deep down Lilly knew Casey would accept her no matter what she is or does but it's still a scary thought, the chance you may lose the closest person to you.

" I probably wouldn't be able to get another job anyway,I'm useless, no good at anything, the only thing I can do is clean,cook and look after the kids" Lilly lets a huge sigh escape " come to think on it I'm not good at any of that, maybe my life is pointless"

Lilly went to bed feeling guilty,she feels like she hasn't been able to do much with her kids lately because of her job.

Lilly was exhausted and just wanted to give up but was that fair to the kids and Casey?
