I stared at the girl's tiny heart-shaped face. "Anna! There's someone at the door!" She screamed into the house.
"Just.. stay there! Don't leave!" She said it so seriously I almost laughed. Almost. Then with a flourish she took Keke away from me and slammed the door. I looked at my mom's face. Startled with just a hint of worry.
"Do- THE CUPCAKES! HOW COULD I FORGET THE CUPCAKES? Godda-" She blushed at me. Mothers. "I'm going to run and get it. Wait here." And with that she took off.
"What?" Then the door opened again. A platinum blonde girl about thirteen years old stood there. What's up with the children in this house? "Err.. hi," I said awkwardly.
"Hey," She looked at me with interesting eyes. They were a grey, almost blue, but not quite. "Braeden! A girl's here! Is it for you?" She yelled into the house.
"What's her name?" I heard a deep voice come from upstairs.
"What's your name?" She turned back to me.
"Umm.. Rose?"
"Rose!" A moment later I heard heavy footsteps trotting down the stairs.
"I don't know a-" The rest trailed off. A completely shirtless guy entered my view, the little girl from before trailing behind him.
Holy.
Mother.
Of.
Cheesecake.
So. Fucking. Sexy.
From what I can see, he has the same grey eyes as the girl in the doorway, but with dark brown hair, like the toddler.
"Who are you?" He asked with this adorable confused look on his face.
"Err," Way to be attractive, Rose. "Hi. I'm Rose."
"Hey.. Braeden." He drew his hand through his hair. "Look, if you're here to ask me out just-" And he was cut off by yet another kid. He was the exact replica of the blonde girl. Except as a boy, of course.
"Allie, who's at the door? Oh. Hi. Are you Braeden's new girlfriend?"
"Actually.. my mom and I came to bring you some pie and cupcakes. We're welcoming you to the neighborhood. We live next door," I pointed awkwardly.
A tired looking woman came to stand behind Braeden holding another baby. Maybe about one? How many people live in this house? She cant even be 37. She must be popping out babies like a kid popping in candy. "Hi, Can I help you?"
"Mom, they're our neighbors. That's Rose." Braeden butted in.
"Oh, hi! Is that for us?" She indicated to the pie.
"Yeah.. My mom's bringing cupcakes. She went back to go get them." I held it out.
"Oh, good! The kids love these! Here, Allie. Put this on the table." She handed the cake to the blonde, 'Allie'. "Go with her, Cadan."
"But-" her lookalike started.
"Hold open the door for her. And take Reilly with you." She handed him the baby.
"Alright.."
And then my mom chose this moment to show up, holding the cupcakes. "I'm back! Oh, hi." She said breathlessly.
"Hi." The woman said smiling. "You must be Rose's mom."
"You met?" My mom asked with a questioning look at me.
"Yep. We're like old friends." Oh. I almost forgot Braeden was still here.
Almost.
"Well hey there." Mom raised her eyes at me. I mentally facepalmed.
