Wow, I'm finally graduating high school. I never thought I'd see the day. It's not like I did extremely well in my classes. The big question is what to do with my new found freedom? Do I leave town? Heck, I could even leave the state and get as far away from dad as possible! But I have no car to leave in, and I don't want to hitchhike and possibly get killed by a serial killer. I don't have money for a plane ticket seeing my dad takes all my money from my already small enough paycheck to fuel his drinking habit. Seems like my only option is staying with dad and just saving as much money as I can tell I have enough to leave this place. Times like this are when I really hate mom for leaving how could she do this to me? She used to care so much about me, or from what I can remember she did. I don't remember much about her other than the fight she and dad had. Even then I don't remember much of that other than her and dad getting in an argument and then the door slammed. I wish she ran to me and took me with her. I wish she had taken me away from this hell hole I hate her for it. I need to go on a walk to clear my head. I walk out of school and start walking down the street in the opposite direction of my house. Usually, my walks only last a couple of hours but this one might last all-day. I ended up walking to the library. I hope it's open. It's getting pretty late and I really don't want to go home. I actually want to enjoy my graduation and not get yelled at. I know if i go home dad will find something i did wrong and make my night a living hell. So I went to walk into the library "Oh hello the library is just closing down," the librarian lady said sadly. "Oh okay thank you can I just check out a book before I go?" I said trying to hide the sadness in my voice. "Of course honey I'm not a mean old lady come on take your time go get your book." she said grabbing onto my shoulder and leading me into the library. "I got a couple of things to go and do take your time and go sit at a table and read if you would like I'll come to get you when we need to leave," she said and walked away leaving me in the middle of the library. I started walking down the isles of the library not knowing what I'm searching for just searching for something. When I finally come across a couple of good books I walk to a table in the back of the library. It has a wall on one side making the table hidden from the rest of the library. As I'm halfway finished with my book the librarian comes over "I thought I'd see you here" she said, "this is my favorite spot it's so quiet and secluded no one here to bother you." I started packing up and said "thank you for letting me stay for a while and find some books." She stopped walking "you looked like you needed some time by yourself even if it was just an hour or so. You are welcome here anytime you need to and if anyone gives you trouble just tell them Mrs. Parks sent you here." She said as she walked me to the door we said our goodbyes and I started my walk home. I think I'm gonna take a long way so it'll take longer to get home.
