Even though Evie was upset with her friends, she never once thought about hurting any of them. So naturally, when she saw that they were all unconscious, her first reflex was to run and check their pulses and make sure they were okay. All she got were three steps towards Jay before Claudia swept her away from her fallen friends, and arm on her shoulder. Although her grip was solid and her walk forceful, her eyes held pity, and Evie found she did not want nor like the pity.

"Why are we leaving them?" Her innocent question caused the older girl to roll her eyes.

"We're not leaving them, we're taking them with us," she stated casually.

"What will happen to them?"

"That's not up to me."

"Will they be harmed?" Although they had hurt her, she would never wish harm upon them. Claudia gave her a shrug and a noncommittal noise.

"C'mon, princess, we have to start walking in order to make good time."

"Where are we going?"

"That's for me to know and you to find out," Claudia stepped over a particularly large stick, before leading the bluenette down the path. "Hayden will take care of the little gremlins." Evie looked up at the brunette.

"They're not gremlins."

"Okay, if you say so. Come on, Miss Humanitarian."

"I'm not a humanitarian if I only care about those three people."

"Whatever you say, Princess."

"I'm not a princess, either."

"Okay. Princess."

"Claudia."

Mal groaned as her mind wandered into conscientiousness, and her eyes blinked a couple times before stopping opened.

"Jay? Carlos?" She called for friends. She almost called for Evie before remembering the events of earlier that day- yesterday?- and how Evie had done nothing but stand there. Almost. The up-and-coming-queen then noticed a figure sitting right outside of her cell. She knew immediately, without even having to look at the details, that this was her twin brother, Hayden.

"Where's Evie?" Then she remembered her best friend's broken-eyed look. "What did you do to her?" There was a bite to her voice, one that promised threat. Hayden merely looked up.

"Evie is fine- Claudia is with her. I did nothing to her." The stupid god-heir smirked at her. Even as she glared heatedly at him, she couldn't help the ice that ran through her veins. The way he stated his phrase made it sound like he did not hurt her, but something-or one- had. As if sensing her thoughts, her brother continued. "But you needn't worry yourself with that. If anything, you should be worried about your other friends. What are their names again?" He tilted his head, as if he were thinking. Mal knew he knew what their names were, but that didn't stop him from looking as though he had never heard or seen them before. "Carlos and Jay, yes?" The girl narrowed her eyes at the boy. They were no longer brother and sister, she could see that now. She realized they had lost that companionship when she left. And never returned, even though she had promised to return.

"They'll be fine. Jay is strong and Carlos is smart. What is your goal here?" Hayden tilted his head, searching her face with stormy eyes.

"My goal," he said softly. "-is to help the children of the Isle. Is to make sure that they are never abandoned like how you abandoned me. My goal is to make sure you and every pretty little Auradon mainlander pay for what you and they have done."

"What then?" Mal snapped. "After that, huh? Will you feel accomplished for making people feel miserable and injured?" Hayden let out a sigh as if it were really obvious and he was talking to a toddler. Her thoughts snapped around her head viciously.

"You really have lost your villain's touch, sister. No matter, you will see your precious home and all those who you loved fall. Good-bye, sleep well." And with those parting words, he stood to his full height, straightened his shirt, and walked off, leaving Mal to her racing thoughts and dark emotions.
