As the team made their way into the city, Toshiro went up to Arsène and said,
"Hey, just how powerful are these ShapeShifters?"
"Strong enough to destroy this universe and create another. That is their goal in life." Arsène stated in response. Toshiro looked up in shock. "I get the feeling that we won't have any longer than 11 days before the world's oceans start evaporating. Then the natural ecosystems and environments be come the opposite of themselves and all the continents become a supercontinent. They're basically gonna send us back in time and we will eventually die out until only a black dwarf remnant of the Sun is left. We need to do this quickly," he continued.
"Shit. If we fail, and the Sun becomes a black dwarf, what'll happen?" Toshiro nervously asked.
"A black hole will form and annihilate any remaining dead stars from existence. If that happens, the Underworld will be able to form 2 stars and force them to collide and create a supernova, giving birth to a cursed universe infested with the ShapeShifters." Arsène explained.
"Wait. So those not-so-little shitheads have all that power, then why don't they just instantly create their stars?" Wave asked, apparently listening in.
"Doing that will utterly devastate every living thing, including themselves." Arsène answered.
"Looks like there's no Shifters near. Shall we take a break?" Maria asked.
"In that case, who wants to meet Mae?" Toshiro suggested. Having nothing better to do, Arsène complies,"OK."So, with that said, the group made their way to Toshiro's apartment, where Mae was currently cooking what smelt like a juicy T-bone Steak with vegetables.
"Hey, Honey. Who're they?" She greeted sweetly. Mae was a young and pretty girl with long dark navy hair down to her waist, slim and curvy with bright, innocent red eyes. She was wearing a white shirt with a black cardigan on top, a black skirt and black converse.
"Mae, meet Maria, George, John and-" Mae suddenly gasps, interrupting Toshiro's introductions
"Is that the Fallen Angel?" She asked, noticing Arsène.
"Uhhh.... yea." Toshiro said a little nervously.
"OHH MY GOOOD! I'm SO honoured to meet you, sir!" she squealed excitedly.
"Oh please, no need for the honourifics. Just call me by my name, Arsène. And thank you, but I'm no one special." Arsène replied modestly.
"Oh, uhh, sorry about that, I've been a very big fan of you for years. Anyways, very nice meeting you, Arsène." She said. "Now who wants some red meat?" she asked excitedly.
"Haha, tabemashou." Toshiro said.
"Ehh?" John asked.
"Oh, it means "let's eat" in Japanese."And so, our favourite team have themselves a delightful meal, cooked by Mae and had the time of their lives. Arsène was also surprisingly relaxed. He even let out a little smile which didn't go unnoticed by Maria.
"Is that a smile I spy?" She asked cheekily. After she said that, everyone looked at him in shock, remembering that they never saw him smile in the time they have known him.
"Hm?" Arsène said in response, trying to hide his once-in-a-blue moon smile.
"Well daYUM, son. I didn't know you had such a handsome smile." She flirtatiously said.
"Ummm.. right. You realise that this is the closest I have to an actual family, right?" Arsène said in response to being teased for a personal trauma.
"Oh, sorry Arsène. I didn't mean to offend." Maria said, slightly guilty.
"I'm messing with you." He replied, actually laughing.
"Oh, haha.. yea." Maria laughed, embarrassed slightly. As they carried on, little did they know that disaster was close by. The ShapeShifters decided to bring their first bout of total and utter universal devastation early. They were going to try and make this naturally warm country (Japan) unnaturally freezing. Arsène's eyes suddenly opened and he sprung up, surprising everyone in the room. Then, Toshiro felt it and also sprung up.
"What's happening?" Mae asked, slightly scared. Arsène gasped.
"The Underworld are trying to freeze the country over, which in turn will announce the Beginning of the End." He said. Mae looked at him in fear. Suddenly, a cold burst of wind spread around them, cold enough to make even Arsène shiver slightly.
"Ok, here's what gonna happen. Blizzard, there's 2 ShapeShifters out back, I need you to take them down. Wave and Hurricane, get the 3 that are surrounding us. Me and Toshiro will take the rest head on. There's about 10 we need to take." Arsène commanded. "Remember: aliases in battle!"
With the orders given out, Maria, now called Blizzard in battle, went to take out the 2 Shifters that are trying to surprise them. Wave and Hurricane went quickly to clear the perimeter and Toshiro took Mae to her room where he asked her to hide. He then joined Arsène, he jumped into the action. Bear in mind here that because their names are longer, they call each other by "Storm" which is short for Toshiro's "The Lost Storm" and Arsène "Angel", shortening "The Fallen Angel".
"Angel! We need to look for their commander!" Storm said.
"Right. Look for a tall, muscular Shifter with large horns in his head!" Angel replied.
"Roger!"
After about 25 minutes, Blizzard joined in the fight.
"Angel! There's too many of them! What do we do?!" She asked in a panic.
"We're looking for the commander!" He responded. He then proceeded to explain the details to her.
"Ok. Consider it done!" She said and dashed off to fight and search. Wave and Hurricane here struggling a bit but were holding their ground.
"Hurricane, we need to make a whirlpool!" Wave shouted.
"On it, right behind you!" Hurricane replied. Once Wave made his water bubble, Hurricane then swirled his wind around it, causing it to expand and suck in all the Shifters to the centre. Wave then made the tornado throw them out and into the distance. They fist bumped and said, "Not bad, eh?"
"Not bad at all."
Meanwhile, over at Angel and Storm, they realised that they were in serious trouble.
"Dammit! We've been tricked! There's no leader here, they set this up as a distraction so they could freeze us over!" Angel shouted.
"Huh? So, what do we do?!" Storm asked.
"Pull back and regroup. We need to heal and rest. We'll have to risk it and let the place freeze over. Worst case scenario, it's just thick snow!" Angel ordered. After everyone was accounted for in Toshiro and Mae's apartment, Arsène told them,
"Alright. We don't really know when this place'll freeze over, so I need to ask everyone except Maria to rug up in thick coats and scarves. It's going to be cold for a few days." Everyone complied and eventually, Mae came out in a red pea coat and black tights, George and John had to wait to get home to rug up and Toshiro came out in his winter fighting outfit, consisting of a black leather jacket and red gloves with black and red boots. He also has his katanas strapped on his back. Arsène then did a little trick that only he and Toshiro are capable of; teleporting. He quickly warped to his mansion and grabbed his red fire patterned Kimono instead of his coat, this time completed with shoulder armour, jeans, gloves and boots (from the 1st chapter) and warped back to the team in a fiery flash.
"Whoa, when did you learn that?" Maria asked in surprise. Arsène just did the Hawaiian hand gesture and said,
"Hmph. I was born with it as a descendant of The Fallen Archangels. Toshiro can do it too."
"Wait, really?" He asked.
"Yea, just think about instantly appearing in a random place and focus. Remember our location though." So, Toshiro tried it and he disappeared and then reappeared in an instant.
"Whoa, that was cool." He said. Now that our team has rugged up, with Mae bidding them a safe trip, they started making their way to the next battlefield: The Frozen Desert. However, unknown to them, there was to be another interesting encounter....This is Arsène's winter battle outfit. Stay tuned for part 6. Love you all, and thanks you for reading this.
