Chapter 4: Mates for life

Blair Pov

Im standing in the kitchen with my sister Chey, she's talking to some guy I cant remember the name of which I should with being the soon to be alpha of my pack. Looking around I see faces I recognize and ones I don't, my pack is small but we can hold our own against any incoming attack. My best friend Aiden comes running up to me and I embrace him in a hug, pulling back I see he is dressed in a nice blue suit and white tie.

"Hey Aiden how are you today? haven't seen you around a lot."

"Hey birthday girl! Ive been around you know hitting on the new ladies" he said trying to be smooth

"oh yea? Because all of the other girls in the pack turned you down" I say laughing

"Hey! don't be mean Blair!" says Chey giving Aiden a pat on the back when he pouted about my comment.

Rolling my eyes I looked to the entrance of the kitchen and I saw the most gorgeous woman I have ever seen. This girl is very tall I mean veryyyy tall, she has long brunette hair pulled up into a high tight pony tail. She is wearing a lavender colored dress that hugs her curves.

At that moment she looked at me and I smelled the most amazing smell of cedar and cinnamon, my wolf Briel jumped up and yelped "Mate!".

As soon as I regained control I noticed that she started walking over here. All I could think of was Oh no she's coming this way toward me, but then she stops. She looks kind of confused yet so curious, she then looks at my friend Aiden and from the looks of it she didn't like the fact I'm standing so close to him I think she just growled.

She looks pissed off, glaring at Aiden she started walking over here quickly, next thing I know she has her hand around his throat lifting him off the ground. Aiden struggling to breathe her grip tightening, she says with the most beautiful yet demanding voice. "Why are you standing near my mate boy?" I instantly put my hand on her arm that is not holding Aidens throat she looks at me and her face softens her eyes going back to the original hazel color, she drops Aiden. I noticed that the music has stop and everyone is watching us with worried eyes. Chey and some girl I dont recognize were helping Aiden to his feet while he's trying to catch his breath.

I started to feel pissed off about her hurting my bestfriend. "What gives you the right to walk in here during my party and harass my best friend!?

She doesn't say anything for a minute just stared at me her eyes flickering back and forth between hazel and green, probably talking to her wolf.

"Hey im sorry beautiful i didn't realize he was you best friend i just didn't feel comfortable with him standing to close to you" says shyly.

My anger instantly disputes and I'm standing here lost for words. I look at my feet and I noticed that she is wearing bright purple and black hightop converse I giggle and look up at her, yet she is already starring at me I blush so hard.

"What's so funny beautiful" she says sweetly.

"Uhh I like your shoes" i say shyly. Loving the way she calls me beautiful. Mostly my mother and close friends say that. It melts my heart to know my mate thinks I'm beautiful.

"Thanks I got them on my last birthday from my mom, she really likes to buy me new converses every year which I don't mind. Anyway so can I get a name sweetheart ? she says scratching the back of her neck. I wonder if she does that alot when she's nervous.

"oh god you didn't get her name?" says Briel accusingly

"hey! I'm sorry it hasn't come up yet" I snip back "Blair Rosefield daughter of the Alpha and Luna of The Black Lake Pack" i noticed she stiffened a bit.

"I'm Clauic Lockheart daughter of the Alpha and Luna of the Blood Moon Pack, it is nice to meet you miss Rosefield" she says formerly.

"She's an Alphas daughter!?" says Briel "I imagine her wolfie jaw hanging open"

"Well it looks like our daughters have already meet" says my dad coming out of nowhere, making me jump realizing i wasn't paying attention to my surroundings

" yes looks that way" says Alpha Jake

Luna Scarlet and Alpha gave me a hug congratulating me and I thanked them in return. Clauic smiles at our parents and as I'm staring at her, again she looks at me catching me I look away quickly blushing as red as a tomato. Perfect timing I see my older sister Chey coming this way. She walks past Clauic and gives me a hug and whispers in my hear.

"Whose the hottie sister? whispers Chey

I blush bright red for the third time tonight maybe forth. Chey just laughs, I hear Clauic slightly cough to get our attention and I introduce them to each other.

My sister said something about Clauic height I elbowed her in the ribs.

"OW" she said pretending to pout. I stick my tongue out at her.

"5'8" say Clauic overhearing Cheys comment

Me and my sister stand there in shock. I hear my father announce that all party goers must move to the main room for the announcement. I'm not a fan of being out on blast, but whatever makes my parents happy.

With much authority my father says "Welcome everyone to my little girl Blair's eighteenth birthday party. It is a special day to celebrate the day she can start to look for her mate. A strong male to aid her in the potion of Alpha and Luna of the Black Lake Pack!" The whole room is filled with applause and whistle noises. I try to keep a smile on my face and try to be happy for my parents, but im burning inside with this feeling of fear and dread. My parents vision for me is not the one I can see for myself. If only they could understand me, maybe then I can be free from this feeling.
