Terry’s POV

Aaliyah fell asleep on me when i was trying to fix up her knee, but I still managed to cover up her wound a bit. About 10 minutes later I started to get tired too, but I couldn’t help just thinking about my little 6 year old brother. He would’ve still been in school right now and i'm not sure if my mom would go back for him or not.

He used to get on my nerves sometimes, but he was still a pretty cool brother I couldn't help but tear up at that though. I just wiped them away and fell asleep, next to Aaliyah.

The next morning was actually pretty peaceful for once no one screaming, no zombies banging on our door, just complete Isolation from us and the world. It almost scared me a bit.

I looked next to me and just realized that Aaliyah wasn't next to me. I got up and looked around the house,I heard someone searching what appeared to be the kitchen “You're up pretty early” I say startling Aaliyah

“You almost scared me half to death” She says almost laughing

“Thats what you get for scaring me and Dunkin’ Donuts” I say cracking a smile at her

“I almost got everything” Aaliyah says “Good” While she started to continue packing I thought about yesterday with the TV and the message I can remember it clearly in my mind.

“Zombies…..Go….Pentagon…..Survive” I didn’t know what to think at the time the I started to think more deeply into it “Go…. Pentagon” Thats when it hit me, The pentagon from Washington D.C, there’s no way that it got overrun by zombies, with all the security it has.

“I know what it means” I say almost out of no where.

“What… What are you talking about”

“The Message on the TV” I respond back to her, followed by me saying, “Zombies…..Go….Pentagon…..Survive, I think it saying for us to go to the Pentagon in Washington D.C. to Survive from the Zombies” We both stare at each other for a second in silentness while she tries to process what I just said.

“Maybe our families are there,” she says smiling, I smile too, to try and make her feel a bit more comfortable, not realizing that Washington D.C was quite a long way to go.

”We should go there, we have to see if our families are safe” Aaliyah says.

“Yea… we should” I say. We come closer and I proceed to hug her to make her feel safe, next we hear the sound of burning rubber outside followed be a huge crashing noise. We both jump and look at the door.

“Guess the hugs gonna have to wait till later.” I say smirking. We both peek out the window of the front door and we see a police car that just hit a telephone pole. I look closely at the guy in the steering wheel. He was dead.

I open the door a crack to see if there was any zombies in the vicinity. Aaliyah taps my shoulder and I look back she has a gun in her hand and she passes it to me. Its a short barrel revolver, “Six bullets” Aaliyah says “Careful, and make em’ count”

“I will” I say back to her. I only fired a gun once in my life and that was when I went to a firing range with my step dad. I had little to no experience but I could keep it steady.

I begin to approach the car slowly checking my sides every couple seconds or so. I gently slip the loaded revolver into my pocket and pull out my knife. Opening the door, where the officer was dead, the wind blew into my hair and I felt the cold breeze. I checked the cops belt and grabbed his flashlight, gun, taser, and the keys to the car. He quickly jerks forward and lunges toward me, I fall back, but he can’t do anything.

His seat belt was on so I just closed the door and left him there. I begin to take inventory of what I grabbed from him, a 9mm pistol with half of a full clip, a taser, and a flashlight that was almost dead but it still worked. I snatched them all and put it in my bag, then I examined the item that I was hoping to find.

The key to the car, it had a bit of blood but I began to insert it into the trunk of the car and it pops open. What I found may have just increased our odds of surviving, there was three full magazines for the cop’s gun and a 12 Gauge shotgun with about 5 shells. I started to grab it all to bring back to the house, but I checked first to see if there was any zombies.

I saw three of them down the street so I raced back into the house before they can catch me and I barricade the door again. For once I think to myself “We can take them on”
