Serena was growing tired of the hundreds of failed attempts to get Ash's attention. He was totally clueless, now matter how many obvious hints she dropped. It was starting to frustrate her deeply.
"Ok, this is it. I'm going to get him to notice me if it's the last thing I do." Serena assured herself.
She took in a deep breath and left her room at the Pokémon center, even more determined to get Ash. However, she couldn't find him. Instead she found Bonnie and Clemont.
"Hey you two. Have you seen Ash?" Serena asked.
"Nope." Bonnie replied.
"I think he went to get his Pokémon cared for my Nurse Joy." Clemont answered. "He should be back shortly."
"Hey guys! Sorry for the wait!" Ash called as he exited the Pokémon center.
"Hi Ash." Serena smiled to him. "So, Ash-"
"I didn't expect it to take so long." Ash remarked. "But my Pokémon are all healed up."
"Ash, can we-" Serena tried again.
"Now I can go train!" Ash cheered.
Ash hadn't meant to interrupt and talk over his friend. He was just so excited to work on some new battling styles. As he usually was when he found a new battling technique.
"What do you say bud?" Ash asked Pikachu.
"Pika!" Pikachu agreed enthusiastically.
"Great!" Ash beamed. He started to walk off, but turned towards his friends. "I'll be behind the Pokémon center. Let me know when you're ready to leave."
With that, he turned and increased his pace to get to the battlefield.
Now, Serena was fuming. Once again, she couldn't get through to him because of his training. She hoped that maybe once, he could hold off on that for her, but she was wrong. He wouldn't even listen to her.
Then, another thought occurred to her. Maybe she could make him jealous.
Without thinking, she turned to Clemont and grabbed his shirt.
"Woah, Serena? What are doing?" Clemont questioned.
"Hey Ash!" Serena called over her shoulder.
He stopped and looked back at her and waited.
Once she was sure he was watching, she leaned forward and slammed her lips on Clemont's.
Serena had no idea what happened after that. It was just supposed to be a brief, meaningless kiss to make Ash jealous, but it wasn't. Instead, it felt right. More right than anything she had felt. Like his lips were meant for hers and hers only.
The feeling only got stronger as he kissed her back and hesitantly placed his arms around her. She felt save and loved in the little world they shared in that moment. Whatever noises or things happened around them, neither one had a clue.
Unfortunately, their lungs needed air and they had to pull apart. Their eyes opened slowly, and they were met with the lovely shade of blue that were each other's eyes. It was such a blissful time.
That is until the voices of Bonnie and Ash hit their ears.
"Yay! Serena and my brother and finally together! And then they will get married and Serena's going to be my sister!" Bonnie cheered.
"Good for you, Clemont." Ash gave a thumbs up. "I'm happy for you two."
Serena jumped back, completely red in the face with her eyes glued to the ground. She couldn't believe she just kissed her friend and her crush was congratulating them. How could this be happening?
