A NEW ORACLE

BELLE, PERCY, AND Annabeth were on their way out of Mount Olympus. However, they were stopped by Percy, whose eyes locked on something in the distance. Belle followed his gaze to see Hermes standing in a side courtyard of the palace. The God was staring at an Iris-message in the mist of the fountain.

"You want to talk to him, don't you?" Belle questioned.

Percy glanced down at her. "Yeah. I'll meet you two at the elevator."

"You sure?" Annabeth asked.

Belle studied his face, noticing the determination etched into his features. "Oh yeah, he's definitely sure. Come on, Annabeth."

The daughter of Athena and daughter of Demeter made their way to the elevator, leaving Percy behind as he went to go talk to Hermes. They walked in comfortable silence, yet the air felt heavy. Finally they reached the metal doors. Belle shoved her hands into her pockets and bit her lip in thought. Annabeth was always one to shut people out . . . but Belle hoped she would be the exception.

"I'm sorry," Belle finally said.

Annabeth blinked. "About what?"

"Luke. I can't even imagine how hard that must've been for you. I'm not excusing any of his actions, but I think he did the right thing in the end." Belle paused for a moment. "Do you agree?"

The blonde nodded slowly. "Yeah, I do."

Belle reached up a hand and placed it on Annabeth's shoulder. "If you ever need to talk to someone, you should never hesitate to come to me. I'll always be here for you, Annabeth. Please don't forget that."

Annabeth gave her a watery smile before pulling Belle into a tight hug. Belle responded just as enthusiastically. The two of them stood there in each other's embrace until Annabeth finally pulled away.

"Thank you, Belle," Annabeth admitted.

Footsteps were then heard. The two turned to see Percy walking back up to them. Belle raised an eyebrow at his bewildered expression. She looked behind her to see Demeter and Persephone standing on the road of Olympus. The two Goddesses waved at Belle and disappeared in a shower of wheat and flowers. Belle blinked.
