Winter break had passed by faster than anticipated. Second semester would be starting in a few days and Ji Eun didn't have a single friend in her own class. She never needed to, not with Jaemin's friends around. And especially not with Jeno around, he was always there whenever she felt lonely or discluded. And after his thoughtful gift, Ji Eun was even more convinced the boy was her closest friend from the group.
However, her Renjun hadn't gotten much closer. It was obvious he wasn't interested, and the girl knew being around her crush while he likes someone else wasn't the best option either. But she stayed out of her own selfishness, she couldn't distance herself from Huang Renjun no matter how much she told herself it was necessary.
Ji Eun's thoughts were interrupted by a sudden knocking "Ji Eun unnie?". It was Ji-aye, her small knocks making it obvious " Come in" the little girl twisted open the door knob slowly "Renjun oppa came by" Ji Eun gave her sister a confused look "Jaemin is out though" Ji-aye shook her head "No, he came to see you unnie". The teen raised her eyebrows "Oh? Really" she nodded "He's in the living room." Ji Eun's eyes widened, the girl was wearing a worn out t-shirt with some random shorts. A visit from her crush was less than expected. "I'm coming in a minute Ji-aye. Wait outside for me, okay?" "Okay"
As soon as she saw the door closed she ran to her closet to find something, anything, that was decent enough. After a solid three minutes of rummaging, through her clothes she found another shirt. She pulled off the old one off quickly and replaced it with the other shirt. Ji Eun Fixed her messy hair, quickly tying it into a bun.
When she finally opened the door of her room she heard ji-aye's soft giggles followed by Renjun's persistent shushing. A small smile formed on her face "What are you guys talking about?". Renjun raised his eyebrows in surprise "Oh. Hey." she waved a reply and took a seat near the boy. "If you're free, do you want to maybe go get some food?" the girl was shocked. Renjun really was acting different today. "Right now?"
Renjun nodded "I was hoping we could go somewhere more... open." He was hinting towards Ji-aye. She wasn't exactly one to leave guests alone. Ji-Aye grinned "Ok you two can go on a date. Renjun I give you permission." Ji Eun's face flushed bright red "Ji-aye!" Renjun patted the little girl's head "Thank you for your permission Ms. Na. I promise not to break her heart". Ji Eun rolled her eyes. "Too late for that" She muttered under her breath. Renjun looked up at the teenager "What was that?"
"Oh... I said I'm gonna go get dressed then.". The seventeen year old gave an okay sign.

"Does it taste good?" Renjun asked curiously, he watched the fifteen year-old in front of him sip the milkshake in satisfaction "It's so good" Ji Eun hummed "Thank you Renjun. But what's with all of this? Is something wrong?" Renjun sighed "Is it that obvious?" the girl nodded silently" Yup." Renjun scrunched his nose at her up front statement "I have a favor to ask you. I know its a lot to ask but I knew you're the only one that can help me in this." Ji Eun's heart skipped a beat
Only one.
"What is it?" the girl sat up straighter in her chair. "Can you help me with Rima. I really like her. I just wish if I could know if she feels the same way-" "You want me to help her like you back?" Ji Eun's toe was suddenly cold. Her grasp on the straw tightened slightly. "Yes. If you don't want to I understand." The girl looked down at the table for a moment " You really like her, don't you?". Renjun nodded silently. "Love is such a stupid thing" she muttered out. "Renjun, what are you going to do if it doesn't work out though." She played with her fingers glancing up at the boy every so often. "I really don't know. I don't want to know"
"Okay." Ji Eun looked up at the boy, a weak smile framed on her face "I'll help you." Renjun smiled at the girl, the widest smile she's seen. "Really?" Ji Eun gave a hesitant nod "You two would be good for eachother. You're both smart, and get along well too." Her words were coated with jealously, her expression however remained as positive as she could make it.
"Uh. I think we're done here then..?" She pointed towards her empty cup and glanced over Renjun who was holding his own almost-empty cup. "Yeah." He gave a sheepish laugh before standing up "Let's go". The two stood up to throw out their drink and left the shop, "Thanks for the milkshake again I'll pay you back next time" Renjun shook his head "You already did so by helping me. Seriously Ji Eun, You're the best. " He looked over at Ji Eun, she was walking side by side the boy a small smile displayed on her face as she looked towards the ground. She really was adorable.
No one would ever know if Ji Eun was struggling, she never showed such emotions. It was only natural that Renjun didn't notice the pain that was masked so perfectly behind her smile. The walk back was silent for a while "So, are you going join the council then? Rima was saying you seemed pretty interested." the fifteen year old pondered for a moment "I think I might. Especially now that you want me to help you with Rima, I'm going to have to spend a lot more time with her.". The seventeen year-old nodded understandingly "That's good for you then. It would look great when you apply for college". Ji Eun sighed "Speaking of college, have you started thinking about where you're going to apply? Jaemin already got accepted in Seoul." Renjun quirked his eyebrows "Already? I didn't even know he applied. "I was thinking of going to Seoul myself, its a good school and I think I've got the grades for it. Besides if Jaemin is going too I've got plenty of reasons to go."
"If you do get in, will you visit?". Renjun was caught off guard by the question, he could tell the anticipating tone dying for a positive answer "I'll visit especially to see you, Ji Eun" He smiled down at the girl. Not knowing how true those words would be.
