In the fullness of time, Nevaeh was a step away from pursuing what she wanted. This wasn't the first time she was here in Toronto. It was years ago when she came here with her parents to attend a new year's party along with the White's.
It was one of those parties where all the influential families come for an informal meeting. The men used to talk about business while the women spoke about their charity parties and affairs of men and women in the company.
Even if Nevaeh attended the party she would be least bothered about these stories but due to her condition, she never joins any public gathering and hence gets to spend the whole time in the hotel room sketching and lazing around. This was all she experienced while in Toronto.
Toronto was not what she expected it to be, it was more like New York city in Canada. One thing she was to miss while in Toronto was the open fields which become red, orange and yellow during fall. But she knew how badly she wanted to come out of Ottawa which felt like prison with a beautiful view.
She took a cab to the University accommodation which was just few block from the University. Since College starts from September she had a week to explore the city which exited her even more.
'The first impression of the accommodation provided by the university was pretty much good looking given its affordable rent.' she thought. Nevaeh clearly wanted to stay at some residential area.
Nevaeh entered the red stoned building. Her room was found to be on the third floor - Room No.305. At the reception she got to know that they were expecting another student who will be her room mate.
"May I know when she will be checking in?" Nevaeh asked politely to the receptionist who was a young lady in her twenties probably a University student on a part time duty.
She had a scar on her cheek and Nevaeh couldn't stop being disturbed by it. She started to think 'what would have happened to her? that would have been so painful' without being bothered as to what the receptionist was saying. She often thinks too much over every situation and misses important details.
"Miss McCoy? here's Your key card, your roommate will have a spare key card to the room so you can have this for yourself. When she arrives you can discuss and change the passcode." the receptionist informed bringing Nevaeh back from her thoughts, hence Nevaeh only heard what the receptionist said about the keys and not the part where she mentioned when the roommate will be arriving.
Nevaeh took her luggage which comprised of a purple suitcase with geometric stickers and her back pack which was black with keychain in almost all the zippers. She also had a carton box which had designing items plus a black female mannequin torso popping out.
She walked towards the elevator which was swamping with students, since it was around the time all the students came in.
She waited for few minutes but still she could not manage to get in the elevator. With all the energy she had she gathered the luggage, one on top of the other and took the stairs to the first floor.
"You can do it heaven! You. Can. Do. It..." Nevaeh encouraged herself to reach the first floor stopping after every four step to take a breath.
In shortage of oxygen she kept panting as she reached the first floor and saw the elevator vacant. She hustled with all her luggage to the elevator. She was glad that she did not forget to put on her mask.
She got out of the elevator and disappeared in the busy hallway. But the crowd was making her nauseatic already. The different perfumes worn by people was making her giddy even with the mask on. She covered her face with the box and made her way to the room.
