[Nimue's POV]

Today was it. I was finally searching for a job. After getting settled into the new apartment, I needed to find a part time job to earn some cash between my college classes. Unfortunately, not too many people were hiring at the moment. I went through a few diners without much luck. I only managed to get one application. I tried a clothing store but they weren't looking for anyone.

There was a music store I thought might be fun to work at, but the girl who was behind the register didn't seem too enthused about a new potential coworker. After nearly half the day spent, I was starting to think I was out of luck.

Walking out of yet another dead end, I sighed and ran a hand through my hair.
"In a small town like this, you'd think they'd have plenty of jobs open... Then again, they might not have too many jobs to begin with." After muttering under my breath for a minute, I started walking again.

"I know my Dad said he'd help financially, but I don't want to have to ask him for that..."

Feeling a sense of defeat, I chose to wander the town and try to think of another way to earn some cash. Even if I had to be a dog walker or a babysitter, I'd snatch anything I could get.

While I was pondering how I could advertise my multitude of dog walking and kid friendly services, I came across a bookstore. GDT Arcane Books. It caught my interest right off the bat with the magic looking aesthetic it had going on, and I felt drawn to it.

"Huh... might as well see if they're hiring. If not, maybe I can pick up a book." I said before stepping inside.

Looking around the place, I could see that the name of the store fit perfectly for whatever it was they sold. They had what looked like books on mythology of all sorts, antiques or magic artifact replicas decorating the store and pictures that were very much out of the ordinary.

"Okay, this is pretty cool." I grinned, making my way over to some of the bookshelves and scanning the titles.
"Let's see now... A book on dragons...? Fun subject." I muttered, catching sight of the gold lettering.

A few minutes went by while I searched around. There were a plethora of different subjects, but it mainly ranged in mythology and magic.

I finally caught sight of a book with things I knew about.
"Arthurian Legends: Facts or Fiction. Dad would love this." Chuckling, I reached up to pull it down from the shelf it sat on to skim through the pages. Of course with my luck, I had failed to notice someone walking up behind me.

"Is there something I can help you find, love?" A British voice spoke up, startling me which made me yank my hand back.

I turned around so fast, my shoulder hit the bookshelf.
"Ow!" I yelped, only for the book I was trying to pull down to fall right on my head.
"Ow!" My hand went from my shoulder to the sore spot on my head, leaning forward at the pain.
"Man, I'm such a klutz."

"Oh, fuzz buckets!" I heard the voice curse, and soon saw a pair of converse in my field of vision.
"I'm sorry about that. I didn't mean to startle you, darling."

I felt a pair of hands gently take mine, checking over my head for any clear injury.

"I'm sorry, but... did you... did you say, "fuzz buckets"?" Despite the slight throbbing in my head, I couldn't help but ask and look up, trying to refrain from laughing.

The guy who stood in front of me was tall, had black hair with dyed blue tips and wore the general style of a rocker.

He blinked, brow raised before letting out a sheepish chuckle.
"Ah, yeah. Weird habit, I know."
