After coming up with what they all thought was the safest plan, the four parted ways, aside from Douxie and Nimue. They couldn't risk changing the past, and they needed the time map in order to make sure it didn't happen. Claire went, reluctantly, to be Morgana's handmaiden while Steve went to meet Lancelot in the barracks. He was a lot more excited about that idea than Claire.

Having gotten Nimue into a more time fitting outfit like the others, she and Douxie made their way toward Merlin's tower. While they might not have been at a Renn Faire, she certainly felt like she dressed for one.

"Okay, so what are we telling Merlin about me?" Nimue asked to confirm their plan, trying to keep her nerves under control.

"For now, we just tell him you were ordered by the king to help me with the tasks Merlin gives me." Douxie replied, seeming far more relaxed than she felt.
"Let's just hope it won't make him suspicious."

"Do you think he'll ask Arthur about me? If he does..." She didn't like the idea of being found a fraud.

Douxie glanced at the girl and smiled, hoping it was reassuring.
"It'll be fine, Nim. Merlin doesn't normally question the orders of the king. Technically, it's not a lie." He pointed out nonchalantly.

Nimue felt a little better seeing his confidence in the matter.
"Alright, I trust you. Just know you've got my life in your hands, here." She teased slyly, earning a chuckle.

"I'll take care of it as if it was my own." He replied in amusement.

It didn't take long for the two to reach Merlin's tower, but they heard what sounded like glass breaking just beyond the entryway.

"That doesn't sound good." Nimue said, walking up and carefully peeking in with Douxie.

Inside was Douxie from nine centuries ago. Well, technically now, but nine centuries younger than the Douxie she knew. You get the idea.

By his feet was a puddle of blue liquid, a broken glass and Archie. Merlin was scolding past Douxie for the mess.

"Ugh." Douxie cringed by her.
"That hair was a mistake." He muttered, eyeing the top knot man bun he'd apparently used to sport back in this day.

"I don't know," Nimue mused, "it's kinda cute." She teased, looking at the Douxie by her side.

"Hey now, cheeky girl." He rolled his eyes, a playful smirk tugging at his lips and he teasingly pushed her by her face.

Nimue stifled a laugh and swatted his hand away.

His attention turned back to the conversation happening inside and he let out a sigh.
"I remember this." His tone gave way to the fact he wasn't too fond of this particular memory.

"Your cutting corners has only cost me time."

Douxie mimicked Merlin's lecture down to a T. Even his gestures matched up.

Nimue had to stifle another laugh, watching her friend imitate his old master as if he'd gone over this time and time again.
"You know, you're a little too good at that." She joked.

"Hush, you." He chided, smiling wryly.

Taking a breath, Douxie pulled up a rune on his brace and, in a flash of cerulean blue light, his clothes transformed into the outfit his past self was wearing.
"Well, here's hoping this doesn't break the space-time continuum." He rubbed his hands together and slipped inside the tower, sneaking up behind his past self, Nimue carefully following behind

"He's not actually going to... is he...?" She thought to herself, brows furrowing.

Without missing a beat, he grabbed his past self, startling the poor guy and dragging him behind a corner, before snagging Archie's tail who let out a cry of protest.
