𝙙𝙖𝙣𝙞𝙚𝙡...
i woke in an unfamiliar room, i nearly panicked when zach wasn't sleeping beside me. i down remembering the events early that morning.

i walk downstairs smelling something delicious.

pancakes.

my favorite, they smelled just like my mom's.

zach was digging into chocolate pancakes while jack pulled on his hair as he ate, per usual.

"good morning daniel!" corbyn said.

"good morning," i replied, sitting at the counter.

"i know you don't like chocolate so i made you blueberry pancakes." he said sitting the plate in front of me.

"thank you." i said as he nodded.

the pancakes tasted amazing.

"daddy?" zach said as i choked on my milk.

corbyn looked at me cautiously.

"can i call you that?" he asked.

"whatever you want, honey." corbyn said.

"can you cut this piece?" he asked holding up the pancakes with his fork.

"sure." after he was done jack pushed his plate next to zach's. corbyn cut his asking if i wanted mine to be cut as well.

"no thanks. i'm not hungry anymore, can i be excused?" i asked as jonah walked in the room.

"yes," corbyn said as i left for my room.

why is everything changing so quickly?

zach and jack were always dependent on me or my mom for everything, i am oldest it's my responsibility.

i have to take care them.

i'm the only person they have.

"daniel? can i come in?" jonah asked.

"yeah," i sighed as he came in.

"are you okay?" he asked.

"yeah," i said.

"it's obvious your not okay," he said. "talk to me."

"there's nothing to talk about." i said.

"then why are you upset?" he asked.

"i'm not, it's just—never mind." i began.

"don't say never mind, whatever you have to say is obviously important to you, i need to know what's going on with you."

"it's just everything is soo different, new house, new parents, new life, nothing is the same anymore. i just want everything back! my mom, my old home, my old life i want it all back!" i said beginning to sob.

"you know zach is forgetting our mom? he said he doesn't even remember what she looks like anymore. its hard, i'm the oldest and i'm supposed to care of them but i don't have a clue—" i rambled as jonah wraps his arms around me, holding me close.

"it's not your entire responsibility, daniel. corbyn and i are supposed to take care of you. it's only the beginning, everything seems hard right now but it will be okay. how about we do things to honor your mom. we can get her favorite flowers at leave it at her grave, and share your favorite stories about her." jonah suggested.

"we'll take everything at your pace."

"thank you."

"your welcome, let's have breakfast yea?" jonah said to i nodded.

"your welcome, let's have breakfast yea?" jonah said to i nodded
