two weeks later...
it was wednesday, the day corbyn and i would talk with jack's teacher.

she had texted corbyn last friday asking us to come in and talk about about jack's recent behavior.

"where are we going daddy?" zach asked me.

"your daddy and i are gonna talk to jack's teacher while you and your brothers are gonna have fun with auntie chrissy." corbyn said.

"i don't need a babysitter." daniel mumbled.

"if you don't like chris you can stay home, okay?" i bargained as daniel nodded.

"is jacky in trouble?" zach asked.

i look over at jack and he is sleeping, as always. what an angel.

"no baby." i said.

we dropped the kids off at our friend christina's house and made our way to the school.

"mr. and mr. marais, meeting with ms. gonzalez? room. 3b." the receptionist said kindly.

we soon enough found the classroom the door read 'mrs.gonzalez's third grade superstars!'. jack's name wasn't hard to find his star was bright yellow and written in bold letters. we walked in and mrs.gonzalez greeted us.

"hi, please call me lisa, my daughter rachel is in zach's class. please have a seat!" she said.

"how is jack's behavior in class?" corbyn asked getting straight to the point.

"well he's a good student, kind and respectful. he doesn't talk though but i'm assuming you already know that?" she said as we nodded.

"his academics however are a different story, he is barely on a second grade level of reading. he isn't where he should be right now. do you read with him at home?" she asked.

"every night before bed." i told her.

"he's also sleeping in class frequently. does he stay up late?"

"no, but he has been having night terrors for the last two days." corbyn explains.

"i see...does this happen with his brothers?" she asked.

"no, the both of them have been fine."

"for the night terrors their pretty common. i suggest taking him to a speech therapist and working on reading. have him do a page each day." she said handing me a workbook for third graders.

"thank you!" corbyn said shaking her hand.

we got back in the car, knowing we had to make a decision.

"call ashton," corbyn said.

i called ashton and booked him an appointment for this friday.

corbyn sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose.

"i'll talk to jack about it." i said as corbyn shook his head. "corbs i got it, trust me."

we drove to chris' house and the boys didn't want to leave, especially zach.

"but daddy when will i see aunt chrissy again?"

"yeah," daniel said, surprising me. "she's really cool."

"soon buds, later noodle head." she smiled at jack who flashed a smile back.

we got back home, as corbyn took daniel and zach upstairs.

"jack?" i called as he came to me.

"so i had a talk with your teacher and she said school hard for you. so were gonna try to do these every day, okay?" i said as he nodded.

"corbyn and i also want you be able to talk to us and everyone. so on friday, you and i will go somewhere then we can get you a basketball. sounds good?" i asked as my boy nodded again.
