it was now three months since the boys were fostered.

jack has improved a lot from the last time you all have seen him.

he's completely fluent in asl and now he's working on talking. so far he can say yes, no, and papa. even though it's not much it's still a lot to him. his night terrors have become less frequent and he's doing significantly better in school.

zach maintained his happy spirit and became the social butterfly of the three. i mean it was kindergarten, its easier to make friends.

daniel ended up making two friends corey and angi. they could always be caught making jokes with each other and laughing. which is honestly what daniel needed. he was thirteen with the stress of a middle aged accountant with three kids and a failing marriage. (too much oopsie daisy)

and daniel's fourteenth birthday was now upon them.

zach and jack we're excited for the party, mainly the cake but still they were in a good mood about it, unlike daniel.

he didn't hate his birthday but he could care less about the day. to him birthdays didn't mean anything, its more like 'hooray you're a year older than the last time we did this' kinda thing. what's the point of celebrating a birthday when it doesn't mean anything the next morning or the days after until the same day next year.

of course he went a all out for jack and zach but for him he was fine with a birthday muffin and dinner at ihop.

however corbyn and jonah had different plans.

"good morning baby! happy birthday!" corbyn said kissing daniel's head.

"happy birthday daniel!" jonah said.

"thank you." daniel says sitting down at the counter.

"happy birthday dani!" zach yelled running downstairs with jack following.

"boys! slow down, we don't need to start dani's birthday in the er." jonah laughed along with corbyn.

"happy earth day!" jack signed as corbyn chuckled.

"birthday," daniel corrected. "but thank you jack." he smiled.

"okay sit, we need start the day off early. eat your breakfast and then we're gonna leave." corbyn said.

"and where are we going daddy?" zach asked.

"a surprise, now eat up!" jonah said.

the three boys ate quickly wanting to figure out the surprise.

the ride to the carnival wasn't long, when the family arrived the two younger boys were excited since they've never been to such a place.

"daddy what's that?" zach asked pointing at the ball toss.

"you throw a ball and try to knock down those cans."

"can i try?" zach asked to which jonah nodded.

zach ended up missing, jack attempted to win it for zach but he also lost.

"you try." jack gestured to daniel but he declined.

"daddy?" zach begged he really wanted the stuffed panda.

"okay." jonah said pulling money from his wallet, and throwing the ball.

he missed the first two times, he tired again and lost

"jo," corbyn said.

"no corbyn it's a stupid game i got it." jonah said as he paid again.

daniel enjoyed watching him try over and over to win, twenty bucks later jonah won zach the stuffed panda.

"thank you daddy!" zach squealed, hugging the bear tightly.

they went on to other rides and attractions, which daniel declined again.

"you don't want to do anything?" corbyn asked him to which Daniel shook his head.

"i'm hungry." jack signed.

"okay, let's eat huh?" jonah suggested.

they ate lunch then continued to explore the carnival, riding the fairs wheel, and eating funnel cake.

"thank you." daniel said.

"for what?" corbyn asked.

"for everything, dads."
