{400+ words}Dr. Joe Harsalt’s POV - At the Pack Hospital
I studied the screen, maintaining my professional poker face as the results popped up. My eyes flicked between Yuna and Zane, both of them looking nervously at me.
“Congratulations, Yuna," I said, my voice calm. "You’re pregnant.”
I paused for a moment, letting the tension build. “And it’s not just one there’s two! You’re expecting twins.”
The room fell silent. I could see Zane’s jaw tighten, his hand instinctively reaching for Yuna’s, but he was clearly struggling to process the news.
I chuckled inwardly never thought Zane’s genes were this strong. My wife and I only managed to make one daughter. Of course, I loved her dearly, but this was a different level of surprise.
The couple’s expressions melted into pure joy as Yuna wrapped her arms around him. It was a heartwarming sight, and I almost forgot myself, but then I cleared my throat.
Time for the doctor to do his thing.
“Alright, dear upcoming parents,” I said, my voice light yet firm. “I need to tell you this quickly before Zane gets any more worked up.”
Zane shot me a glare that made my hair stand on end, but I pushed on. “I can’t determine the gender of the babies yet, but you should know werewolf pregnancies move faster than human ones. Your pregnancy will be about 4 to 5 months, not the usual 9.”
Yuna looked a little shocked, and I understood why. She probably never got formal education on this. Most packs don't have schools on pregnancy, after all.
“But don’t worry, my lady, everything will be fine," I reassured her.
A low growl rumbled from Zane’s chest. I raised an eyebrow, but before I could react, he snapped, “Dr., please stick to the facts. She’s my lady!”
I bit back a laugh. Classic overprotective mate behavior.
I grinned. “Zane, relax. I have my own mate, thank you.”
He glared, but I couldn’t resist teasing him. “I’m sorry, Zane, please calm down, alright?”
Yuna, ever the calm one, gently grabbed his hand, and Zane visibly relaxed, though the intensity in his gaze never fully faded.
“Alright,” I sighed in relief. “You can go now. Please return in two months for a check-up on the pups.”
The couple beamed, their eyes sparkling with happiness as they left, hands entwined.
As a doctor, moments like this were why I did what I did the joy of helping mates through this was priceless. I leaned back in my chair, finally letting out the breath I’d been holding.
I could die a happy man now.
