Peace Worthy of Pain

"What the hell were you kids thinking?!" Commissioner Lovecraft shouts at the teens in his office.
"I mean, you five acted so ballsy back there that you decided to fight that maniac instead of going to the police?! We could've handled it ourselves! I mean, for God's sake! What were all of you thinking?!" Commissioner Lovecraft shouted while he paced back and forth in front of them. Asori, afraid the team might be in deep shit, even though they already were, tried to go and bat for the team.
"Sir, if I can interject, we had it under control. The Duke of Power, as he likes to be called, surely gave us a good fight, but we could handle him. The guy was only after us and he didn't aim his energy cannons at any innocents. We don't know what the guy's after, but we-" Commissioner Lovecraft's scowl at her practically shut her up at that point. Of course, she had to let a few words out of that awkward mouth of hers.
"I'mma stop talking now," Asori said with her head tipping down a bit. Commissioner Lovecraft then turns his back on them and takes a deep breath through his nose. The man also rubs his temple just before his now calmer voice enters the tense atmosphere.
"That was stupid," Commissioner Lovecraft firmly tells the teens yet again. Asori's head went to the floor with her eyes not looking at the man she really disappointed. The team didn't notice this, however, as they were too busy hearing how this guy felt about their apparently "reckless" actions.
"I don't care what you kids tell yourselves. You kids could've died fighting him," He said seriously. All the team members couldn't help their guilt. He's right. They went in without fully assessing the situation. Not only that, but they practically charged at him after their attempt at talking him down failed. Asori even got hurt during the fight. Sure, she got a bit shocked; but it's not as bad as being literally struck by lightning. Sighing, the man's next words appeared as if he was defeated regarding how the team handled the situation.
"But..." Commissioner Lovecraft starts, all five teens looking up at the man in curiosity rather than shame. "in some way, you kids did the right thing." Raising an eyebrow, each team member glanced at each other before looking back at the man scolding them.
"No innocents were hurt other than some minor shocks to your friend." The nodding in agreement with his facts was enough for their spirits to begin lifting.
"Surprisingly, he didn't take any of his stolen money with him, so you kids did manage to stop him from getting away with his goods. Hell, even I don't know why he went that easy on you kids to begin with," The man said with his hands folded behind his back.
"But next time, when you're fighting dangerous people like that, learn to use your brains, or let the police handle it when they can and should," The police commissioner said with his pinkie pointed at the group in a stern, no-nonsense manner. The teens only nod seriously back to show Commissioner Lovecraft they listened to what he said.
"Some folks would like to talk to you," Commissioner Lovecraft said as he is walking towards the door to his office. Once he opens it, a group of people enters the little building, one being a woman with her phone out ready for work.
"Hello, Alta Heroes," The woman cheerfully greets the teen heroes.
"Pamela?" Ashley asks as to why she's here. Shadow Bird attempts to answer this query only to be interrupted by Pamela herself.
"You here for an interview or-"
"Well, I need to report what happened today to bring home the bacon," Pamela said before she got her camera fully up and running.
"So Alta Heroes, what went through your head when fighting this guy?" Pamela inquires, her phone's camera recording just before those words left her mouth. The entire team takes a moment of pause to collect their words. Asori, feeling the need to speak first, takes over for clarification as to their new enemy's identity.
"First of all Ms. Anderson, his name is the Duke of Power. I know. It's a bit of a dorky name. That, and his costume looked like he, like me, is a Star Wars fanboy," Asori said before she chuckles lightly. The girl then clears her throat before continuing with her words.
"But don't let his weird name and get-up fool you. He's actually a pretty good fighter when you get to duel him. His weird little tech whip was also something that really caught us by surprise," Asori complemented. Aubrey couldn't help but enter her words into the conversation followed by serious dialogue from Jayden.
"Yeah. Oh, and during the fight, he managed to grab my legs and throw me like a big meat carcass one time. I'm      pretty slim, but I never thought some guy could lift me like that with just one hand."
"Regardless, he's still someone nobody should underestimate. We'll be keeping an eye out for him so he doesn't cause too much trouble."
"Well, you guys are right. He also looked pretty scary when he tried robbing Wanda's Banking Castle," Pamela comments followed up by cocky comments from Shadow Bird.
"Dude, we've watched a ton of horror movies growing up. In fact, we've even seen one of your guys' recent horror films, and the gal's costume there looked much scarier than what our boy Duke was wearing." The team and the news reporter can't help but chuckle at his joke. If there's one thing the team could count on that could make them feel better, it's Shadow Bird's quips and jokes.
"Ohh, back to our reasoning for trying to stop him," Asori said after she made that realization. After looking back at her team due to her growing tired of talking for them, she sees her team appear as if they wished to speak for themselves as well.
"Do you mind?" Asori asked as she made three steps to the left for them to take her place. Because of Asori's prediction being correct, a few members clear their throats before Ashley starts their speech.
"Well, we had to," Ashley begins followed up by Jayden's words for the speech they didn't write down.
"Fic-City. We know we're a bunch of kids who've just now become superheroes. We know that what we're doing is dangerous." Jayden's words then become followed up by Ashley.
"But we don't care," Ashley stoically declared. Even Dennis and Commissioner Lovecraft's eyes widened at that statement.
"We were given great powers by someone who couldn't use his own great power when he should've," Ashley said once again.
"It's like that motto from Amazing Fantasy number fifteen he chose not to follow and it's a motto we believe in. With great power, there also comes great responsibility," Shadow Bird said in a serious, passionate tone that had no goofiness skating on the words whatsoever.
"The fact that we now have this responsibility is one of the many reasons why we chose to move here. There are people in this city who need our help and we know damn well there are people out there that wouldn't give those people a second glance if they had our abilities," Aubrey's words get a nod from Sam in the back. It's true. Many bad people in this world could've used these powers to harm others for their own gain. If anything, Fic-City should be grateful for the team being on their side in the first place.
"So, what we're trying to say Fic-City is that, yeah, we're new here. But that doesn't mean we don't wanna help you," Asori finished the conversation there just as Pamela put her phone away. Out of all the people touched by the speech, Commissioner Lovecraft is the one obviously affected the most. Their words were so genuine and brave. He still couldn't believe these kids, because of the powers one selfish man gave them, feel they must be like Spider-Man in a way. Yet it's also obvious through his frown that he still fears for their safety.
"Thank you, Alta Heroes," Pamela said after she shakes their hands once again.
"Hey, what app does your news station have?" Asori asked for the group.
"Ohh, would you like some help finding it?" Pamela asked as all five teens pull out their phones.
"Ok, you guys need to get new phones," Pamela said just after those old phones were pulled out. The teens, although bewildered at first, nodded in agreement at the suggestion. Compared to their Samsung and Apple devices, this phone looked like the next hot phone. The grip the woman had on the phone was strong, it's stainless to an s, the phone's solid indigo case looked like it had been molded onto the phone, and it fits right into her pocket. It most likely also had a scanner and projector as well.
"Come on. It'll be our treat," Pamela said while lightly gesturing to the five-member group to come with her to the phone store. Just before all of them left, however, Commissioner Lovecraft still had some things to say to them.
"Wait." The team is all ears to what he has to say. Thankfully, they're not in trouble. But Commissioner Lovecraft gives out his classic warning to them.
"You kids stay out of trouble, got it?" Lovecraft warns with his pinkie at them.
"Of course, sir," Jayden foretold for the team just before they left the building.
"Vincent-" Dennis tries to go bat for the team, but it's rebuffed by Vincent's understanding.
"I know. They're just trying to help," Vincent said as he went to check on some employees of his. Dennis, although relieved, still worried about how Vincent's gonna handle this whole thing. But he knew bringing it up now would only make things more... complicated. On the contrary to the complicated situation, the group previously just exited the phone store, all of the Alta Heroes having new phones on deck.
"Thanks, Pamela," Jayden said while he observed the similarly colored phone fashioned after his pen. In fact, all the heroes had gotten their phones color scheme modeled after their favorite colors. Jayden had azure blue. Ashley had blood red. Shadow Bird had navy blue. Aubrey had sunshine yellow. Asori had amethyst purple. The phones also had little sketches of what they like to do in their spare time and their idols.
"Yeah, thanks," Aubrey said while idling at her Pokémon engravings on the phone.
"Seriously, this is so cool," Shadow Bird said while he looked through his data. It's all there. His music, his notes, his videos, and his photos. They really are geniuses.
"It's our pleasure," Pamela said with a smile and a nod.
"You kids stay safe out there and keep up the good work," Pamela said just as she's walking back home.
"Thanks!" The five teens said in unison.
"I see you guys like your new phones," Dennis said. The rest of the smiling teens look upon him with those same looks of glee.
"Oh, we do," Shadow Bird said before taking a proud selfie of himself.
"They're so cool," Ashley said while scrolling through her music playlist.
"Wow," Ashley said as "Crawling" by Linkin Park is playing in the background. Suddenly, it's chorus plays really loudly, making everyone clutch their ears for mercy.
"Oh!" Ashley yelped as she quickly turned off her music. Ashley giggled a bit as she rubbed her the back of her head with her hand.
"Sorry about that," Ashley said while all eight group members walked together.
"It's alright. My god," Sam said, making sure she wasn't going deaf by holding onto her ears for a good few seconds with her sleeved hands.
"Be sure to tell us how your phones are working. If not, give any of us a call and we'll help you fix them," Dr. Mackinder suggests.
"Sure thing, Dr. Mackinder," Asori said back to him.
"Ok, can I just say what you guys did was badass?" Sam says before she puts her hands behind her head.
"I mean, this guy was your first supervillain. How'd it feel?"
"Did you not watch the news, Sam?" Ashley jokes, earning her a chuckle from Sam.
"Oh, don't worry about her. She doesn't like the news," Dennis said before Sam glares at him familiarly.
"Really?" Ashley asked with her hands in her hoodie pockets.
"No, she just reads comic books all day," Dennis roasts. This immediately starts what Dr. Mackinder hates the most. Their arguing. Anything from media to serious events. These two go at it for hours.
"Uh, says the guy who reads Alex's books all day on his break time?" Sam roasts back.
"Says the gal who won't shut up about Azure Soar II being better than the original?" Dennis quips.
"That's because it is, genius," Sam tongue lashes.
"Ohh, yeah. Like the gal who dropped out of high school," Dennis fired back.
"I'm livin' my dream," Sam retorts yet again.
"Ok you two, enough!" Dr. Mackinder demands. Knowing they must back off, the two shut up for a good few seconds before Sam checks on the team alongside Dennis.
"Look, I also wanted to ask if you guys were ok," Sam said more softly.
"Same here," Dennis said in the same tone.
"Yeah, we're ok. Thanks," Ashley said for them. After placing his hands in his pant pockets, Dennis continues talking.
"Just be aware of this, guys. Vincent's only looking out for you. So don't take it too personally when he's crabby with you kids," Dennis advises.
"Got it," Jayden said for the group. His phone suddenly dings as he gets the text near his face.
"Hah, it appears we've been invited to dinner," Jayden said while he and the team looked over the text. It was the family of the bank they've saved inviting them for pizza. Of course, since it's pizza, they've accepted their invite at the drop of a hat.
"Well, if you kids don't mind putting down your phones for at least a few good seconds." The team does so as they looked upon the psychologist with genuine intent at hearing him out.
"What's up?" Ashley asked for the group.
"Those cards weren't given to you for the hell of it, ya know," Dr. Mackinder said wisely.
"Right. If we ever need to talk to you-" Jayden said before being cut off by Dr. Mackinder.
"I'll be there," The man said with a smile.
"Thanks," Jayden said for the team, themselves being all smiles and nodding their head at him.
"Well, I best get back to work," Dr. Mackinder said before he, Sam, and Dennis take their leave.
"Same here. See ya guys later," Sam said.
"See ya!" The team says back to them. Hours go by before the Alta Heroes are seen having just finished eating dinner with the bank owner's family.
"Oh man, that was amazing!" Aubrey said while giggling and holding her stomach. The rest of the group were all smiles until Asori begins having that feeling. The feeling she hates so much. Guilt. Guilt over her screw up during that fight with Duke. Even though she wants to forgive herself, she needs that clarification from her leader to know that he forgives her.
"Hey, Jayden?" Asori asks once gaining the courage.
"Hmm?" Jayden looks toward her direction as the talking started.
"I just wanna say I'm sorry," Asori said. Sighing, Jayden knew what was going on here. Asori's clearly blaming herself for that one mistake. Hell, she didn't even do anything wrong. She did the best she could.
"Asori-" Jayden tried to explain what he thought but it's cut off by her undeserving guilt.
"I mean it, Jayden. I'm sorry. I... I should've done-" Asori's attempt at an apology is cut off by a caring Ashley.
"Dude, it's fine." This attempt only starts up a heated verbal scuffle between the two started by a frustrated Asori.
"Well, no Ashley. Vincent's right. I could've died."
"Hey, it wasn't your fault. Hell, even if Duke managed to kill you, that would've been on him." Ashley's comment unintentionally makes Asori even more guilty and even more frustrated.
"But still. I wasn't thinking-" Asori gets cut off yet again by a now frustrated Ashley. Like Jayden, Ashley hates when Asori constantly blames herself for things she didn't even do. Why can't she just loosen up?
"Asori, seriously?! It's fine!" Ashley shouted.
"No, it isn't Ashley! I was careless!" Asori shouts back.
"Will you quit beating yourself up every time-" Having enough of this, Jayden shuts them down.
"Guys, enough!" The two girls stop right then and there once his firm tone ended the conversation. They're wiser now to not escalate things like this. It's not only unprofessional for the team but also so that they don't trigger any more of Jayden's bad memories.
"Asori, it wasn't your fault. Ok?" Jayden said after taking a deep breath in a more relaxed manner.
"Ok," Asori said after she too sighed.
"Ashley, please be calmer when you're comforting someone. Ok?" Jayden told Ashley in that same calmer tone.
"Ok," Ashley said in a guilty tone. After the group walk in silent melancholy for a good few seconds, Jayden, already tired of this atmosphere, smiles at the team and says this.
"Let's go home, guys. I wanna play some video games." The team, deciding not to waste this moment, smile back at him as they walk closer with him. Surely, today can't present them with any more problems, can it?
"Yeah!" Aubrey said while she and Shadow Bird fought at Kyota and Mina in My Hero One's Justice. For the team, they were in their respective PJs while the two fought. The rest of their gaming sessions went about in a fashion similar to this one.
"Woohoo!" Shouting of joy as the two clashes and clashes.
"Alright!" Shadow Bird boasting as he gets good hit after good hit.
"Come on, come on, come on!" Aubrey shouting to win when she's backed into a corner. This is amusing to everyone as they're having such a great time for everyone. Well, minus Aubrey as she struggles to fight back against Red Riot's sheer power.
"No no no no no!" The yellow girl said while she smashed the buttons to attack. Aubrey fought and fought Shadow Bird's character to the best of her abilities. Unfortunately, this wasn't her night as Mina loses to Eijiro as evidenced by his three-bar ultimate attack destroying her.
"Bullshit!" The team laughs like a pack of wild animals as Aubrey threw the game controller on the ground in anger.
"In your face, yellow beetle!" Shadow Bird roasts followed by a roast from Aubrey. This starts a banter where it goes from Aubrey to Shadow Bird and then back again.
       "Pfft! You just got lucky!"
"Ohh, and by luck; you mean pure skill given to me by the gods?"
"Yeah, sure thing Channing Tatum wannabe!"
"Hey, Justin Timberlake is better than him!"
"You wish! Joyner Lucas has a better flow than Mr. Sexyback over there!"
"Whoah whoah whoah. Don't you talk shit about him or Zac Efron." This revelation utterly shocks Aubrey so much that she bursts out laughing.
"Z-Zac Efron?! So you were a High School Musical fanboy?!" Aubrey said as she howled with laughter.
"Come on, Aubrey. Don't make fun of him," Ashley cautioned with a smile.
"I'm sorry, I just..." Aubrey just barely manages to contain her laughter as she wipes a tear from her eye and continues bantering with Shadow Bird.
"I just really hate that stupid franchise. Especially that douchebag," Aubrey said in-between a few giggles.
"Why, because he has better vocals than you?" Shadow Bird's friendly retort is only met by the sudden flash of rage by Aubrey. The other teammates just looked at Shadow Bird as if he'd signed his death warrant.
"You caught me in the shower?!" Shadow Bird then starts laughing wildly himself to avoid feeling the fear of getting an ass whooping from Aubrey. If there's one thing he's learned about her while helping with her laundry, it's to never spy on her while she's showering.
"No, I caught your vocals in the shower," Shadow Bird's quippy attempt at lightening the mood gets angrily rebuffed by Aubrey.
       "You frickin pervert!" Aubrey snapped.
"Hey, I didn't see-" Shadow Bird's calming down words get cut off by the raging bull that is Aubrey right now.
"I don't give two shits about what you saw, ass biscuit! I would've beaten your sorry ass if I found out you were in there earlier!"
"Hey Aubrey, calm down," Asori tried to calm Aubrey down with just her words, but they're ignored by Aubrey's anger.
"Just stop fooling everyone here, Mr. I'm Batman-Spider-Man twenty-four-seven! You're a frickin pervert!"
"Dude, chill out!" Shadow Bird said more defensively.
"Why? Ohh, is it because you don't want your cringy childhood phase to be roasted anymore?!" Aubrey said in a more rude vocal structure.
"Ok, Aubrey. That's enough," Jayden said, his attempt at stopping Aubrey being futile.
"I mean, come on Jeremy! You dress up like a Batman knockoff every day! If anything, you're always acting like you're ten years old!"
"Aubrey!" Jayden shouts but Aubrey ignores him.
"Yeah, it must really sting your pride! Doesn't it?! No wonder nobody dated you in high school!"
"Aubrey, that's enough!" Jayden said in a more frustrated tone, himself on the verge of screaming. Realizing what she was doing and seeing the clearly hurt look on Jeremy's face, Aubrey holds her head down in shame. Jayden then stands up in an apparently frustrated manner. The team was ready for this having all their heads up to hear their leader speak. Then, they hear him take three deep breaths with his back turned to them. Jayden soon looks at them with a face softer yet still firm unlike what the group thought he looked like from their assholery.
"Look, I get it guys," Jayden started and continued in an empathic voice.
"We're still new to this whole "team" thing. And yeah, you guys still haven't gotten accustomed to each other yet; but don't take your personal issues out on each other. Plus, we shouldn't be fighting right now. We've had a great day." Asori and Shadow Bird definitely nodded at that statement. Especially after all the technology they've discovered Fic-City had.
"So, just try to be happier with each other," Jayden demands softly. He then goes off to his room, himself tired of playing video games for today. The four fellow young heroes only glance at each other for a good few seconds before looking down in shame. He's right. They did have a good day. It was only those bumps and their stupid arguments that nearly ruined it. Everyone chooses to go off to their own separate rooms as they too have grown tired of fighting about video games. Asori is on her phone reading about one of the latest stories unrelated to their heroics. A master criminal had broken into the home of a wealthy CFO and murdered her in cold blood. This is someone having operated in this town for at least a good three years. They don't have a set in stone name for this assassin-thief other than calling this figure a "Hunter." To Asori, that's honestly a pretty good name for someone who hunts things as she does.
"Hey there," Ashley said to Asori. After putting her phone away, the two girls continued their talk, Asori having a stretch before it begins.
"What's up?" Asori asked genuinely. Ashley, after clearing her throat, thinks about what she says before she leans against the bookshelf near her.
"I was just... wondering if-" Before she could move and place her hand on one of the shelves only for a scared Asori to rush over to her.
"Wait a minute!" Before she could've accidentally shoved the figure near her hand off its shelf, Asori is quick to catch it and put it back in its place, Ashley having moved her hands as if she's trying to not get bitten by a venomous cobra.
"Just.. please be more careful. I don't wanna have to scour this new internet for ages to get another one of those gems," Asori said, both wanting to protect one for her prized possessions and not wanting to be mad at the girl she's crushing on.
"Ok," Ashley said with her hands in her pockets. All of a sudden, she felt herself chuckle. God, Asori can be so adorkable sometimes. It makes her all the cuter.
"What's up?" Asori inquired with her face as red as Ashley's now.
"Ohh!" Ashley, after rubbing the back of her head for a good few seconds, manages to find her words.
"Well, I was wondering when you're available?" Ashley questions after putting her dominant hand back in her pocket.
"For a date?" Asori said, her hopes skyrocketing to newer heights.
"Yeah," Ashley said without a moment's hesitation.
"Sure," Asori said without a moment's hesitation. Asori suddenly gets a ding which she has to answer.
"What's that ding?" Ashley asked, her eyes catching wind of the event on her calendar.
"Your birthday's comin' up?" Ashley asked Asori casually.
"Yeah," Asori said more casually after she put away her phone.
"What do you wanna do for it?" Ashley asked as she and Asori plopped down on the bed.
"Well, I don't know," Asori said while shrugging her shoulders.
"I mean, I never had a ton of birthdays," Asori admits honestly.
"Yeah. Same here," Ashley admits honestly as well.
"I mean... I mean I would like to have cake and presents like Jayden, Aubrey and Jeremy always had for their birthdays," Asori told Ashley. The redhead then nods her head at that statement before she pulls Asori in for a hug.
"Well, we'll make sure it's special. Just like you." Asori, feeling genuinely happy, reciprocated the act in warm retaliation.
"And I mean it. You are special," Ashley said while looking at her.
"Thanks," Asori said before the two hugs for a good few more seconds. Ashley then leaves the room to head off to bed. Asori, feeling herself relax from the earlier stress, looks at her Galen Marek figure and lays it down on its spot. It didn't need to be perfect. Just like she's trying not to be. Jeremy is now seen putting his costume back in its armory. Right after he places the gloves and mask back in its spot, a knock on his door grabs his attention.
"Hey Jeremy," Aubrey said in a guilty tone.
"Hey there," Jeremy said while leaning against the wall close to the door.
"Look, about what I said during that match-" Aubrey's attempt at apology gets stopped by a hand from Jeremy.
"Aubrey, it's fine," Jeremy smiles at her which makes her smile back after these words are said.
"I get it. You just got a little too competitive. It happens. Plus, you didn't offend me at all. But I appreciate the apology,"
"Thanks," Aubrey said, herself feeling much better.
"No prob," Jeremy said before they fist bump.
"Red Riot is still best boy!" Jeremy said as Aubrey walked back to her room.
"Mina is best girl, asshole!" Aubrey shouts in banterous vigor. Both guy and gal giggle while getting ready for bed. Despite that unneeded verbal spat and all that other shit they've dealt with, today was still a good day. Jayden laid on top of his bed going through the events that are happening right now. Yep, this city's got a lot to offer. That's for sure. Weirdos in the news range from a demon stalking and terrifying its prey to a string of robberies involving magic. Those things are definitely gonna be a problem the team will need to handle soon. But not tonight. Jayden looks at the cardboard cutout of his first hero before his eyes go to the action figure of his second. They both looked at him with those same looks of hope that have filled him with their similar emotions since he was a little boy. Jayden nods to them and smiles back at them. They're right. Everything's gonna be ok. He and the others just need to keep going and never give up. Jayden then starts getting himself ready for bed as he is excited for tomorrow. Another where he can truly be a hero like his heroes. Nighttime crawls over the atmosphere as a silhouette operates in the darkness. The only light that showed it can see are its glowing eyes of fire. Soon, those fiery eyes of his go down to his phone where he reads the news that's literary music to his ears. This glorious sight is obviously the exploits of these "Alta Heroes'" and the effects of their heroics that've been taking place in Fic-City, his territory by the way, ever since the first week they've arrived here. They've beaten up petty thugs, helped out some bullied kids, prevented fights between friends, and saved a kid from falling out of a tree. This figure scrolls through at least a few more photos before stopping himself at the last one. This picture is just adorable. All five heroes had dinner with the owners of the city's bank as their thanks for their brave foiling of Duke's scheme. The man had seen enough. He puts his phone away and crosses his arms whilst his mind goes into the deepest thought. His fiery eyes then catch wind of another screen on the big building to the right of him. Its larger screen is currently detailing the Alta Heroes' stunt at the bank, his deep thoughts going away right then and there. The sight of their smiling faces at their victory made the man's mind secretly go through the moon inside. Ohh, how he's gonna have fun with them. Many other shadows shared his interest. One is the villain apprehended today. Whilst he sat straight up on his couch in the dark with his TV being his only source of light, he looks on in disgust as Ms. Anderson, the woman who interviewed the Alta Heroes on their first heroic outing, praises the team to no end.
"Yet again another act of bravery and courage from these Alta Heroes as they foiled the schemes of a wannabe supervillain. Wonder how he'll get back up from this one?" Ms. Anderson's smiling image does away to focus on more colorful characters praising the team to no end.
"Dude, the Alta Heroes are so badass. You guys should've seen them take down those punks who attacked me and Officer Nathan!" One particular citizen named Drake tells the news crew with a smile pressed across his face.
"Ok. So one day, I was walking back home when I tripped on a crack in the sidewalk and nearly fell, making me nearly drop my groceries. Thankfully, for me, this wonderful gal named Aubrey managed to save me and my family's dinner from being ruined. You go, girl!" One woman shouts.
"I'm telling ya if you need some great kids to help you come up with an idea for a new project, then Jayden and-or that Shadow Bird guy are the people for you. Seriously, Shadow Bird is nothing like that edgelord he's a fan of." The chuckles from the man who roasted Batman and his husband are copied by the news anchor present. One after another is just non stop Alta Heroes praise that seemed like an eternity for the man. Eventually, growing irritated from this, he uses his cannon to shoot the TV point-blank. The TV was destroyed on impact, but he didn't care. All this bravado that the team is getting will soon be taken from them. He'll make sure of that. One gal in particular found them both amusing and a manageable threat whilst she prepared herself. She knew these kids aren't anything special. They've even said so themselves. So, what better to do than to "remove" them if they become a problem? She promised herself this when she shoots an arrow at a picture of the smiling kids. Another gal enters the scene, one working on her clothes to look good for her future endeavors. She soon takes a break to answer a notification from her phone. Of course, the new craze just so happens to be at the top of the food chain. For now, at least, as she chuckles while putting on a tiara. The first man chuckles soon thereafter as he sets his plan in motion. The fire in his eyes grows into a raging inferno as he lets out an evil laugh. Surely, this spine chilling cackle sent shivers down the spines of Fic-City's many residents. If it didn't, some people would either be very brave or dangerously stupid. The man then turns around and walks away from the scene as the scene in question is taken over by four silhouettes. They're, of course, frightening to look at. Their glowing eyes looked as if they could stare deep into one's soul. One of the members even looked like he was a real-life Halloween monster. These characters' faces soon intertwine as they all had one thing in common. They've taken notice of the heroes' arrival and they've got major plans for those five. And obviously, they're not to be taken lightly.
