I was sitting out in the garden, watching the orangey-red leaves gently flutter to the ground from their trees, one by one. I sighed. Normally, I would savour this weather, but now I felt nervous. I had told Thranduil that tonight I was due to transform, and he seemed fine with it. But I still felt scared, and guilty. That night at Dol Guldur had made me hate my curse even more.

I know Thranduil said that he had forgiven me for the incident 400 years ago, but I know deep down that it was with my fire, my talons and in my Dragon form that I had scarred him eternally; physically and mentally.

"Celegwen?"

I turned and saw Legolas, hesitantly standing behind me. "Quel re," I said, turning away. He came and sat next to me on the little stone bench.

There was a moment of silence. I picked up a leaf from the ground and twirled it around in my hand.

"I know what happened," he said.

I didn't realise what he meant...oh.

I looked at the young Elf prince next to me. He had a defensive look in his eye, and his stance had shifted.

"Legolas, I... I never meant to injure your father," I said truthfully. "And I will never injure either of you again. I care about you, Legolas. There is no need to be afraid," I explained, putting a hand on his arm.

He looked at me, understanding washing over his expression, his blue eyes clearing of fear. "You look just like your father," I remarked.

It was true. He had the same pale blonde hair, the same icy blue eyes, the same brown brows. He smiled.

"I get that a lot," he said.

"I can imagine," I replied. Furrowing those brows again, he looked out at the garden.

"I just don't understand how he could get so angry it controlled his actions," he said. "And then...impale you without meaning." he said.

"People make terrible choices when their feelings are confused, I have seen it happen many times," I said.

There was a comfortable silence. "Tonight's the night, isn't it," he said.

"It is," I said gravely.

"I was wondering...at sundown, could I accompany you? I have always wanted to see a Dragon, but....well, you know my father," he said earnestly.

I looked at him in surprise. "That is an odd request," I said, raising my eyebrows. His face fell.

"But I will say yes."

He perked up, his eyes popping with joy. "On one condition," I added.

"You must promise not to tell anyone about tonight, or about my curse. Deal?" I said, holding out my hand.

He smiled. "Deal," he said, shaking my hand. "I won't tell a soul."

"So," Thranduil said from the other side of the room, a book in his hand. "Legolas is going with you tonight?"

I turned towards him. "You will let him, won't you?"

"Of course," he said. He let out a little laugh. "I had no idea he had a fascination with Dragons, all these years." I looked down to my lap.
