RWBY Fanfic: Team EMRC Volume 2

Make or Brake [Volume 2 Finale]

While the bullhead carrying team EMRC flies through the skies, Vale close but still in the distance, Ellis walks up to Diana and places a hand on her shoulder. The Bat Faunus turns to her leader and smiles at him, her hair still down from revealing her bat ears to the boy just minutes prior. Ellis looks at her with a kind expression while speaking, "You ok?"

Diana brushes her hand across the top of her head, her left bat ear flopping back as her hand passes it and it snaps back up just as her hand leaves her head. Diana looks at the palm and smiles facing her hand towards him, the palm completely clean, "I'm doing better. I still have some ringing in my ears, but it'll pass after a day and some rest."

Ellis continues to stare into her eyes, then looking at her ears, "Honestly, I like you better with the ears out." Diana turns a slight red at the compliment and looks down embarrassed but nodding. Ellis gives a laugh to his teammate and continues to smile at her, "It's always good to see you have an emotion other than just mad, worried, and serious."

Diana's face immediately shoots up and looks at her leader with a red face housing an irritated expression, steam just about coming off of her skin, "Hey!"

She lightly punches his arm and he gives off a laugh before holding his palms up in defeat, "I'm sorry, I'm sorry." Once Diana huffs and calms down, Ellis looks at her with another soft expression, "When were you going to tell us?"

Diana sighs and takes one end of her scarf into her hand and fiddling around with it in her fingers, "I was going to after the Vytal Tournament... I thought that maybe if we had won or... at least came second or third that I'd get enough confidence to... I just couldn't take what would happen if you guys found out about it and hated people like me."

Ellis looks at her confused before placing a hand on her shoulder and smiling again, "You shouldn't have worried, Diana. When we all found out Blake was a Faunus we were fine with it. We care about you like family here."

Diana looks down with a smile and closes her eyes, "I know... and I can't thank you or the others enough for it... the time just wasn't right and..." Diana's voice begins to raise as tears nearly seep through her closed eyes, "...I had just hoped that-!"

"Diana." She looks at him with a panicked expression, realising she had raised her voice, "it's ok."

Diana takes a shaky breath and looks at him with a determined fire in her eyes, "Alright."

Jack walks over to them with Phillip next to him and looks at her ears with a smile, "Nice ears, F.F."

Diana sighs and nods her head side to side with a tired smile, "Please stop calling me that..."

Phillip goes up close to her and looks at them with a bright smile and starred eyes, "They're so cute!"

Phillip gives one a light pinch and tugs it slightly with Diana's expression looking embarrassed her also going red due to Phillip touching her bat ears. Ellis points a finger in Phillips face as he gains a look of slight agitation, "Phillip. It's rude to touch a girls ears without asking. Especially your teammates."

Phillip stops and slides next to Ellis at a fast speed with an awkward smile, "Sorry, Diana."

Diana just rubs the top of her head along with her bat ears, a forgiving smile on her face, "Its ok, Phillip. Bat ears are really sensitive, stuff like loud noises, touching and pulling, don't worry about it you wouldn't have known."

Jack walks over to her with his regular smirky smile while sticking a handout, "I haven't gotten to say thank you about saving me back there. He was gonna burn me to death and you stopped him. Thanks, Diana."
