Epilogue

Wolves ran before me like they were preparing for battle.

For some reason I could not move, my eyes casting their gaze over the tiny limbs I held.

The futile screams that echoed in my ears were my own, a woman with shiny chestnut hair ran over to comfort me or so I thought.

I could hear her speaking but her words made no sense.  She seemed hurried and tense, her emotions matching the atmosphere around us.

Was this just a dream?

The woman lifted me in her arms so effortlessly; the speed at which she travelled making me fear where we were going.

Another taller person hovered nearby, his solid set shoulders drawing my gaze.  The piercing blue eyes that stared back at me reminded me of my own, that same expression held on his features that I recognised on my own many times.  He looked very young but his hardened face made him appear so much older.

Our hurry looked futile, I could see the other large bodies we passed, a stale smell of something familiar in the air; something I could now associate with war.

Blood

For only a moment with me still wrapped in her arms, the woman gave one last hug to the man I saw before, his body morphing into the wolf creature.

We continued our journey, the woman carrying me up many flights of stairs until we finally stopped in a room, her head flipping around until her eyes caught what she was looking for.

I was left confused, the whole room growing dark as I was placed up high like it was meant to protect me.  The loud bang of the door which concealed my hiding place startling me.

There was a series of thumps on the other side, I could hear hushed voices

The woman’s vice was now shaky; I could barely make out her words.

‘But…. You’re……………..us’?

There was a dark chuckle followed by many growls bouncing off the small furniture in echoes, the woman’s voice soon sounded again but this time so loud I feared for my own safety.

She was taut with rage, her fiery temper quieting the room.

I could feel my heart skip in my chest, this dream had happened and the woman I could remember was in fact my own mother.

‘I never understood why the Luna was always the stubborn one……… any who, these men here will direct you back to the castle.  Oh and by the way, we’ll be taking your daughter also’.

The man’s voice did not sound impressed with whatever my mother had done as the sound of my own screams soon revealed my location and my eyes met the evil ones of the man himself; the man I now hated; Walsh.

The darkness was dulling; my mind settling after it fed me the last of my memories before my whole life changed.  Snippets of when I had met Chris seemed to flash around my mind but it was too difficult to make sense of them.

There was some sort of beeping around me, the sound being a constant rhythm, almost like it was keeping time.

The musky smell of damp assaulted my nostrils, my body feeling stiff as I tried to think through where I actually was.

It was too warm to be a cave, I even felt too cramped for it to be a house of sorts.

Beginning to work my eye lids, I could finally pry them open, a bright life above me surprising me at first as I shot up from my position, many of my joints screaming out in agony from the sudden movement.
