Christian left me in the room alone, I knew that he was just waiting for me to get out so that we could leave. I had to go get my pack and some water and clothes first however. He probably assumed that I had already done that. I got up from off of the bed and left the diary there.
However, as I got up from the bed, I heard something small drop on the floor. I was about to ignore it for a few moments, but I looked down to see what it was. I saw something laying there, but I could not quite tell what exactly it was.
I got down and then picked it up. I got back on the bed for some light just to see what it was. As I looked closer, I saw that it was a necklace, and there were some names on it as well. I looked closer to see if I could tell what the names were.
It was a bit dark in the room, so it was fairly hard for me to see. I noticed one of the names right away, it was the name of my father. I looked at it a bit sadly for a few moments, wondering who had made this, but then I saw there were other names as well.
I saw my mothers name, and then I saw my own name along with Angela's I looked at it, and I felt a tear drop from me eye. I wish that I could go back to those days, I wish I could warn my father about the heard coming upon him whilst he was building the walls.
I knew that if I did that, things would not be the same. Liam, and my stepfather Peter would not exist. I saw something scribbled on the other side, which looked a bit newer than I had seen before, I saw the names Liam, and Peter on it... That must have been new, my sister must have made that just before the walls got torn down.
The day that my mother and Peter had died... I looked at it for a few moments longer, and then I heard the taps of Christian on the ground, he was clearly running out of patience now, and I did not blame him. I had wasted far too much time now, we needed to go before it started to get dark.
I then put the chain around me neck, if my sister did not want to wear it, then I certainly would. I looked at it one more time, and then I got up from the bed for real this time. I then began to walk out of the room, and once I was out I saw Christian waiting for me at the end of the hallway.
"Geesh kid... You sure took your sweet time in there. You about ready to go now?" He asked me. I looked down at the ground for a few moments, feeling a bit embarrassed. I had wasted at least 30 minutes in that room, I had not even gone into my own room quite yet.
He looked at me, squinting his eyes at me, he already knew what the answer to that was going to be. I felt like I might as well tell him that I was not ready at all however. I lifted my head back up at him, looking him dead in the eyes, I then shook my head at him, then I began to speak.
"No... I was too busy in there, sorry... I will get my stuff packed up now." I said to him. He looked at me for a few moments, and then he rolled his eyes at me. At least he was not upset at me, that was one good thing I could say at least.
I did notice one thing however, that my brother and Chester were no longer talking in the other room any more. I wondered what they were doing, hell, maybe I already knew. Liam was probably reading, and Chester, he was probably eating something.
I realized I had been standing there for a few moments longer, as I saw Christian begin to get a bit frustrated for real this time. He then pointed towards my bedroom, and then began to wave his hands to get my attention. Pushed his hands at me to tell me to go to my bedroom and pack up.
"Come on kid... It is going to get dark in the next few hours, we don't have all day... We've already had plenty of setbacks." He said to me. I looked at my mentor, and then I nodded to him. He looked at me for a few moments, and then he shook his head at me.
I realized even after him saying that, I was still just standing there. By now he had already left the room, and by now, I could only assume that he was waiting for me at the front door. I nodded to myself, and then began to walk over to my bedroom.
Once I was in there, I closed the door, and then I began to get undressed. I wish I could take a shower right now, my body felt disgusting, like it usually did after a long journey outside of the walls. This time it felt worse than I had ever felt before.
I shook my head though, at least one thing that I knew I needed to do for sure was to change my clothes. My body smelt retched, I did not know how anyone could be near me right now. I walked into my closet, and chose a pair of clothes to wear for the rest of the day.
Once I had done that, I then began to take of my current pair. I then turned my head, I saw something that made me feel like I was going crazy. I could have sworn that I had just seen Sasha laying in my bedroom.
I realized why, I was having faint memories of a few weeks ago, I had been changing my clothes, and she had just walked into my room, after that, well, I'll let your imagination think about what happened after that. I shook my head, at least we were talking again... Maybe, at least...
At least she was still alive, I used to really care for her, but now I just did not get that same energy out of her anymore. Even after she had apologized for ignoring me for quite a lot of time. I closed my eyes for a few moments, trying to clear my thoughts, and to remember why I had come into this room in the first place.
As I opened my eyes, I realized that I was buck naked it the room, I hoped that Christian wouldn't randomly walk in again, I had wasted a lot of time just standing there and thinking about memories that were useless to me in the past.
I then grabbed some underwear and quickly put it on before Christian walked in on me. Once I knew I was safe I then began to put on a pair of shorts and a tshirt. Even if it was getting a bit colder, it was still fairly hot outside.
Once I had put it all on, I grabbed my bag which was sitting on the floor of my closet. I sat there for a few moments, forgetting what it was that I was even doing. Then I remembered and I un zipped the bag and began to stuff a bunch of my clothes in it.
Once I had gotten a few pairs, for a couple of days I then popped my gun in my belt and then began to walk out of the room. As I was about to open the door, I realized that there were a bunch of un opened water bottles just sitting there on the floor, I grabbed them and then put them in my bag as well.
I did not like to drink off of Christian at all, he had a bad after wash, if there were water bottles for me in the room, than I would happily take them with me. I knew that there were plenty of water bottles in the kitchen for Liam and Chester so it was going to do no harm with me taking a couple with me.
I then nodded and then this time I opened the door, half expecting to see Christian waiting for me on the other side. I did not see him however, he must still be at the front door. That was the hope at least... I hope he had not just gone off without me, figuring it would probably be better if I was just taking care of Liam anyways.
I did not want to do that though, I knew that Chester would take care of him, and not let him leave the house. I knew that Chester always had a good awareness of his surroundings, he was not a guy to mess with if you got in a fight with him.
As I walked out past the hallway, I thankfully saw that he was just sitting at the kitchen table, just waiting for me to get out of my room and pack up a bunch of my clothes. He nodded to me as he saw me walk into the room that he was in.
I nodded back to him, as he then got up from where he stood at the table. He then turned his head to behind me and then nodded to Chester and Liam. I had completely forgotten about them as I had walked into the room. I did the same to my brother, and one of my old friends as well.
My brother looked at me sadly for a few moments, but he too nodded back to us as well. I could tell that he was worried about us, and he did not want to be alone right now. I knew that my brother did not want to lose another person in his life right now.
Chester looked at us for a few moments, before quickly then biting into another chip. I wanted to laugh at it, he seemed to be a never ending eating machine, but I knew we were scarce on food right now, I wouldn't get mad at him either because I knew he got fairly hungry pretty easily.
Chester nodded to us as well, and just as we were about to walk out the door, I heard him say something to the both of us, it made me turn around and smile, I knew though Chester used to make fun of me, and he would always be a bit of a dick... I always knew that he at least had a good heart.
"You 2... Stay safe, I hope to see you guys soon, don't let me and your little bro down Ben..." He said to us, looking at me and nodding at me at the last part. I nodded back to him, and then I heard Christian open the door from behind me. I turned my head around, and began to walk out.
Just before I did, I figured I may as well say one last short goodbye to my brother, because I knew that it was dangerous in the community right now, I was not 100% sure that I would come back. Nor was I ever, even when I went outside the walls.
It was going to get a whole lot worse once Christian was gone. I needed to make sure that I could hear, and track footsteps before I began to go out on my own. I knew that my sister knew how to do it, she told me it was the most important thing to learn of you were ever going to go outside of the walls.
I shook my head, remembering what I was doing, my brother was no longer reading his book anymore, he had his head staring down, he was pretending to be reading, but I could tell that he was not actually reading, his eyes were not moving at all. I figured I might as well make him feel a slight bit better about things.
"Liam, we will be back, and we will be okay... I promise you that..." I said back to my brother. He looked up at me, and I could tell he was not too sure he believed a word of what I had just said to him. He then looked back down at the ground.
I looked at him a bit sadly for a few more moments, then I too looked down at the ground. I heard a bit of a loud crunch and saw that it was just Chester eating more of those chips. I rolled my eyes, and then I turned my head over to my mentor as I begun to hear him speaking to me.
"Alright Ben... Lets go... We have wasted enough time as it is." He said to me. I looked at my mentor for a few moments, and then I nodded to him. I began to walk past the door to where he was standing there, waiting for me on the front porch.
I then saw that there was one of the dead right behind him, I did not have enough time to warn him. I used my natural instinct, and I instantly pulled out my gun and shot at it, it whizzed past Christians ear, and he moved back a bit surprised and confused as to what I was doing.
It was a perfect head shot, and now I knew that he was safe... I was lucky that he had given me one of his extra silencers that he brought with him in his backpack as well. That would have been loud, and all of the dead in the community would be running to our house right now, which would have spelled a lot of trouble.
The glass to our windows was fairly weak, I had been playing ball one time, and it had hit the window and left a crack on it, I looked at the window just as I walked out the front door, and then I shook my head. Christian turned his head to see what it was that I was shooting at.
He looked down at the ground, and saw that it was one of the dead. I was a bit surprised that he had not heard it coming, but I did not think to deep on it. He looked back at me with a bit of a surprised look on his face, as he then nodded to me.
I nodded back to him, and then he turned his head back around to look out past the porch. I looked at him a bit surprised and a bit upset, that was the first time that I had ever had to save his life, and he just did not say anything about it? I felt like I should make it known as well.
"No thank you? I just saved your life..." I said to him. He kept on staring out at the streets, as if he was pretending he had not heard me, I knew that he had heard me however. It was beginning to get me even more frustrated, as I then slammed the door closed, as I walked out of the house.
He then turned his head towards me, this time it looked like he was the one that was upset. I was a bit confused about it as well, he shook his head at me, and the frustration turned away right as he began to talk. It was as if he was remembering that he was just talking to a young teenager.
"Kid... I save your life on the daily, I am your mentor, if it was not for me, than you would not be alive out here. This is how it is now, we save each others lives, as if it is normal, you have to get used to it..." He said to me. I looked at him for a few moments, still a fair bit upset, but I got over it, and then I nodded to him.
I knew that he was right, I also knew that I had a few anger issues, but there were no doctors now a days to tell me if I did or not. I shook my head and then kept on staring out at the streets, just like Christian was doing right now.
I looked around, seeing that there was hardly any of the dead left. I could only see about 2 or 3 on my field of view, I knew that it was not just a coincidence now, they were all either forming up in one big heard, or people had been doing their job by taking out a bunch of the dead.
They must have past on the news, there were only a few people there to even hear what it was that Shannon had to say about all of this. I looked down at the ground, ignoring the dead just walking amongst the streets. I had so many thoughts drowning out my mind right now, I did not know what to even think.
Suddenly, I heard something, it was a bit quiet for me and Christian, but I could tell it was very far away. It was in the community as well, it sounded like someone was yelling, but it did not sound like a normal person, it sounded like it was going through some speakers.
Christian lifted his head up, he was just as confused as I was. Me and him then began to walk off the porch, both of us trying to figure out what it was that was making such a loud noise. Was Shannon using her speakers? That did not seem to make very much sense.
I then began to hear a couple of gun shots. I was beginning to get a bit afraid, had the other community come back to finish what they had started? I looked at my mentor, as he then looked back at me. He did not have any words to say, he had no idea what was going on as well.
I figured that it was my turn to to be the first one to talk, since Christian was just as confused as I was...
"What the hell! What's going on?!"
