Soulmate

As millions of droplets fell from the sky, the wind howled in a low pitch. Icy cold water, perfect spheres, touched your skin, sitting briefly before forming tiny rivers of their own. The aroma of rain, sharp and fresh, entered your nostrils as you breathed. You looked back at the red hair boy, standing in front of you, lips shaking from his overflowing sadness. You gently took his hand in yours and led him up to your dorm.
As soon as the door shut, he sobbed into your chest, hands clutching at your jacket. A tiny lapse let him pull away, blinking lashes with heavy tears, before he collapsed again, his misery worsening. The pain must have come in waves, minutes of sobbing broken apart by short pauses for recovering breaths, before hurling him back into his grief.

"I'm sorry they laughed at you again." You said, caressing his wet fallen hair, your other hand pulling him closer.

He loved when you touched him. Your body would warm his soul and you comforted him without opening your mouth. He'd melt into you like ice cream on a hot day of summer, like he belonged in your arms.
Through the window, you could see the salmon purple sky fading into a vast expanse of jet black. As the cloud flew away, luminous stars materialized amongst the ocean of blackness.
You sat down on the floor, holding your best friend as tight as possible. In the darkness, your cuddles were felt like a little touch of heaven. He wished he could extend the night just so he could stay close to you for longer, safe in your embrace.

"Y/n" Tendou whispered, looking into your eyes "Can I stay here for the night?"

"Of course you can, silly."

You poked his nose and held him close, brushing a strand of red hair away from his face. He sniffed and buried back his face in your chest.
After you both showered, you got on the bed, sitting against the wall.

"Let's watch a movie." He said.

You stoop up and grabbed the remote before returning to him. As the movie started, he eagerly wraps his arms around your waist, once again burying his head in your chest. His hug was stronger than anything you've ever known, as if holding you wasn't quite enough, he had to feel every ounce that you were, pressed into every ounce that was him.

In the middle of the movie, he sat up and looked at you. He smiled and kissed your nose "I think you're my soulmate."

"What makes you say that?" You asked curiously.

"You aren't just a simple friend, you have become part of my soul. When life is a storm you are the boat that keeps the water from entering my lungs. I don't have to work at being happy when I am with you. Any time with you is the right time. What I feel for you is deeper than the heart, the mind, the whole body...even the whole world. You're the twin to my soul, y/n."

You smiled. In that moment, you've never felt so alive. You sunk into the warmth of his side, your stomach getting heavy from the butterflies.

"I am glad you finally feel worthy of my love, Tendou."

You both sat there, looking for more words to say. But maybe it was true that silence was golden. Because the look in your eyes and your intertwined arms had told each other everything you wanted to hear.
