The Only One
Chapter 7
Hanna
I let him go this morning. It was one of the hardest things I could do. It feels like half of me is missing, and yet, we're not even together. He's just my friend, my best friend. But should I really feel this way about my best friend?
My answer is no, but Bex and TJ do feel that way about each other right?
Ugh, Bex. I know I promised Ryan I'd talk to her, but I don't know if I'm ready. It's been weeks but I'm still hurt about the whole thing.
Maybe I'll just talk to her tomorrow, I told Maggie I'd hang out tonight anyway.
As I reach for my phone, it starts blaring "Downtown Girl", my favorite Hot Chelle Rae song.
"Hello?" I answer without looking at the caller id, assuming it was just Maggie anyway.
"Hey, it's Bex." Oh great.
"Oh. Bex. What's up?" I so don't wanna have this conversation right now.
"I was wondering, uh, do you have time to...talk?"
"Sorry, I can't, I promised Maggie I'd hang out tonight."
"Maggie?" She asks sounding hurt.
"Yeah, Eckford." I say.
"I know who, I just, I just didn't know you two were so close."
"Oh, well, yeah, we are." I defend my friendship with Maggie.
"Alright, I'll talk to you soon then," She replies, still sounding hurt. A part of me feels bad for her, but she still doesn't understand how I feel.
"Okay, bye."
I hang up the phone, feeling a bit guilty. I of course could have asked Bex to come with Maggie and I to dinner, but, well, I didn't.
After a second of contemplation, I text Ryan.
Hanna: Hey Ryan! I miss you! I hope you're having fun! Come Back To California! (;
I send. Does that sound too clingy? I hope not!
I soon receive a reply saying:
Ryan: I miss you too! We're having a good time, but I wish you were here. I have to go, but have a good time with Maggie tonight! :D
Hanna: Thanks, have a good show!
After I text Ryan, I start writing some lyrics down to a possible song called 'Come Back To California' and then I call Maggie.
"Hey, Maggie! What's up?"
"Hey Han! I was just about to call you! What time ya thinkin' for tonight?"
"You know, I was just about to ask you the same thing."
"Do you wanna say 15 minutes?" She asks.
"Definitely!"
"Cool. I'll pick you up at your place?"
"Sounds good!"
"Alright! See ya!"
"Bye." I hang up.
Aaah, I just want it to be Wednesday. Ryan's coming home Wednesday morning, thank god. I really think that I can finally tell him how I feel about him.
Soon enough, Maggie picks me up, and we head to a fancy restaurant on the beach.
"Maggie, what am I going to do about Ryan?" I ask after we place our order.
