04: One unexpected meeting can lead to another meeting with some small twist mixed to it.
"KONDO...Isao-nii..." Yume repeated, a dazed expression on her face while Kondo looks at her expectantly. A hint of excitement gleaming at his eyes. "Sorry but I don't think I know you." She deadpanned. Making Kondo fall face-first on the table.
"Ehh!? Have you really forgotten about me Yume-chan? Have you really forgotten about your Kondo Isao-nii? Have you really forgotten about all those times we spent together when we were still kids?" Kondo asks upon recovery, his index finger pointing at himself while tears started to form at the corner of his eyes.
"Kondo-san, you must be mistaking her for someone else." Hijikata butted as he heaves out a sigh, making Kondo turn towards his direction.
"No, it's impossible Toshi! I know Yume-chan's face too well! In fact, I am honestly quite surprised that she hasn't changed at all! I mean, yes she did grow taller and her hair is a lot longer now compared to how it was before but other than that, her breast still looks the same and all—"
A loud smash filled the entire interrogation room. Making Okita's eyes grow a bit wide because of shock and Hijikata gaping, his cigarette falling from his lips, at the sight of Yume—now crouching down, surrounded by a fiery aura, as she holds the Shinsengumi Chief's head against the floor. His head in between the now broken in half table. "Now that I think about it, I do recall having a certain pain in the ass gorilla-looking neighbor way back in the past," she said, a menacing smile on her lips partnered by an angry vein below her right eye. "Alllllways getting me into trouble because of his stupidity if I may add."
Kondo let out a hearty laugh, slowly pulling away his face from the floor while Yume retracts her hand from his head. "Still a brute after years huh?" he asks—turning his head towards her, a toothy grin playing on his lips.
"Well if it's towards people like you, being one is totally inevitable you know, niisan." Yume retorted with a smirk, making Kondo laugh again as he stood up.
"People don't easily change even after years huh?" said the gorilla, ruffling Yume's hair as he gazes at her fondly and offering both his hands afterward to her to which the latter clicked her tongue in annoyance but accepted nonetheless. Allowing Kondo to pull her up.
As the two of them stood in front of each other, Yume couldn't help but be in awe on how her Isao-nii looked so different now compared to how he was way back when they were kids—especially at how big the difference in their height is. "Well, as much as I want to catch up with you, I have some important things to attend to right now so..." Kondo took out a key from one of his pants pockets and unlocked Yume's handcuffs—ruffling her hair one last time, before walking towards Hijikata and patting him in the shoulder."Toshi I'll leave my little sister in your care okay?"
"But Kondo-san—"
"See you around Yume-chan!" the Shinsengumi Chief exclaimed— a dumb wide smile plastered on his gorilla face, as he hurriedly ran off from the said room. Leaving Yume with a deadpan look, Okita with this usual blank expression, and Hijikata face-palming.
"That dumb gorilla brother of mine is up to no good again isn't he, Mr. Nicotine Addict?" Yume asks with a small smile, her eyes staring warmly at the door the gorilla went out to as she alternately massages her wrists.
